Dorianne: Here are some pics - finished painting the living room, except the alcove where the black shelves are, which is going to be painted out in black at some point. Tired of painting now. (Also did the hallway to the bed/bathrooms, which you can't see in these pics.)
Thanks for kicking my butt, AT! I'll be going back to my regularly schedule life now. ;)
Patrick 2: Dorianne--
The new Garnet Hill catalog has several bedding options that would work beautifully with your bedroom scheme.
Guido: wooo-hoo, got rid of my bedroom's ugly old ceiling fan with a sleek new one from Ylighting, and used a new handyman electrician who was a doll. Anybody that needs one in B'klyn, send me an email!
Dorianne: Shoot! I did it again!
I dyed the slipcovers of my chair and footstool, and I'm kind of freaking out. Input would be appreciated. Especially if you know anything about fabric dyeing.
Wende: I had to go look at Dorianne's dye-job... laughed out loud at the remark about the pimento pillow.
There was one year in grad school poverty when I habitually bought white blouses at thrift stores and dyed them more interesting colors... and green NEVER came out the shade I expected. I think green dye may be like green paint in being difficult to predict and match.
Good job, Dorianne! I think if we had a renewal award, you'd win it for most projects completed. I enjoyed looking at your picutres, and I think the green looks great. I put up living room curtains this weekend, nice gold silk. Of course, I took no pictures or I'd share!
Great pics!
I LOL'ed at the pimento pillow, too.
My first sofa was brown corduroy, inherited from a friend who was moving. A few months later, I inherited a pair of white cats. A succession of multi-colored throws covered the sofa for many years.

Thanks, Christine and Melinda Bruno!
There should be a magazine called "Decorating for Parents and Pet-Owners." :)
"Decorating for Pet Owners" would have articles like "Tweed: The All-Purpose Solution" and "Why You Don't Need a Light Beige Rug After All."
Oh, and let's not forget "Tiny White Mosaic Tiles: Piece of History or Tool of Satan?"
I took in a stray kitten that matched the majority of my upholstery. Admittedly, that was part of the sales pitch for getting this pet. (Of course, I then noticed my wardrobe changing slowly to also match the cat...and the upholstery....someday I'll just be invisible among them.)
