Does anyone know of a good, cheap messenger service that could pick up / deliver an 8x10 carpet from ABC Carpet on 19th & Broadway? I want to test one of their rugs in my home, which is on East 15th Street. ABC is happy to lend me the rug, but wants to charge $69 to deliver, and another $69 to pick it up again. $140 to borrow a rug overnight - four blocks away!
I'm willing to do the shlepping myself, but then I remembered that rugs are heavy........
mb, I'm not sure if this is a good suggestion, but I usually just ask people on the street (would-be beggars) who are energetic and willing to help me haul stuff, especially if it's just one thing and it's just down the street and up the stairs. I pay a good wage, and it usually only takes a short amount of time. The ones I've found are always willing to wait if necessary or come back at a certain time.

A while back I received a catalogue in the mail with really cool stuff. I had a few pages flagged for holiday gift giving and then my fastidious partner tossed it out. I can't remember the name of it but their niche was eco-friendly housewares items; stools made from tree stumps, amethyst jewelry etc... Any clue what it might be?

When I went to click through to Erin and Seth's Home of happiness, all the pics on the page are x'ed. Fortunately the slide show works...but that wasn't the entry I was thinking of re-viewing. But I couldn't tell with the pics as visual clues.
Sorry for the bad pic but its the only one I have.
Frankly, I don't know that these are the exact chairs I'm looking for. The ones I have in mind are Quarter Sawn oak. I believe they are sometimes referred to as Banker's chairs. Maybe built by Sikes. Arts and Crafts era. Any help would be appreciated.
Nothing terribly dramatic happened, but I do like the little improvements here and there that make my space feel better. Can't wait until the next time to get all the other things I ran out of energy or money to do this time.
