My partner and I are going to NY next weekend to visit his parents during the holidays.
Can anyone recommend a restaurant in Manhattan that is (obviously) good, reasonably priced ($200), easy/not too difficult to get seated on a Sunday without reservations, and has seafood and/or vegetarian options. Also, I would prefer the restaurant to be in an area that has nice shopping or, at the very least, nice window shopping.
Last year, we went to Babbo as a walk-in. The food was very good; however, as a walk-in, we had to get there early (they have only six tables for walk-ins), and we were seated in a very noise bar section. Still, though, it was worth the visit, and we ended up being seated next to some very interesting folks (the tables are practically touching each other).
If you wish, you can email me directly at dctennisguy@yahoo.com.
Thanks! David

I need help distinguishing the Emeco 1006 "Navy" Chair from fakes. Does anyone know if there is a label or engraving on the Emeco version? In sure fire distinguishing features? I have an opportunity to buy a pair of chairs from Craigslist that are said to be Emeco 1006s but the price is very low. I want to make sure I'm not wasting my money.
Thanks
Now it's only slightly overpriced rather than ridiculously priced.

Spring Street Natural -- browse Soho and all that. Spring Street Natural is sort of organic American Bistro, very good, moderate, and doesn't even take reservations for groups less than six

my two favorite restaurants in NYC are Cafe Gitane on Mott & Prince, Walk-ins and cash only. Inexpensive, delicious and always good people-watching. Other favorite place is Little Giant on the LES - it's SO good, reasonably priced, and casual but polished environment. I've been with my parents and it's the perfect place to go with family without being uncool.
Now the reason why I got on the thread - does anyone know a place to get custom glass cut on the cheap? Need a new table top for the Ikea Torsby dining table... thought it came with clear glass, but it comes with frosted - blech.
