Happy New Year! It's been DAYS since there's been an Open Thread! Or was I just blind? It seemed like just a wall of year-long review, but it didn't feel very interactive, although I think it was meant to.

Since the new layout of the web page I've noticed that a lot of the posts show zero comments even though when you open it there may be several there. It just happened with this one. It gives the impression that no one is interested or on that thread.

It said zero after my comment, and yet, now that jimkk has said that, it looks like it was 2! Maybe they've now fixed that glitch? But yes, it generally makes it look like a fairly barren, unpopulated landscape.

I've noticed that comment glitch, too. It was also around before the re-launch.

And I must admit I dislike this year end round up of popular posts by month. It's not at all that interesting, especially as many older posts have inactive or expired links to outside content.

I'm all for a year-end look-back, but one that is editorially curated rather than determined by numbers (by the month, at that!) would be far more interesting. As it is, this feels like a content dump. Meh.

Never had the comment glitch before the re-launch myself.

Interesting article on "clutter" in the New York Times the other day at this link:

Yeah, I'm bored by the round-ups as well, but I've been so busy with "the holidays" that I haven't been online much anyways. Perhaps that's the reason, they're saving all the good stuff for when everyone is back at work. Or maybe the AT people just needed a break too. I think that's fair.

Haven't looked at AT since December 21, 2007. Year end round up is pretty boring. I just scanned through it real fast.

AT people probably need a break which is totally understandable. I'll check back in a week.

Happy New Yeak everybody!

I too am bored with the round ups, but have been keeping occupied with a big move. New (amazing) apartment: YAY!

I am planning to get a 36" tall stainless steel restaurant prep table for an island in my new kitchen.

Anyone know what height bar stools would be most comfortable?

Also, soes anyone have experience with the ikea SUNE stools? Or the ikea SEBASTAIN stools?

THANKS! And happy new year!

I feel very slow, but is there a way to access the archives by subject with the new layout? When I go to the archive I just get lists of posts by the week. I'm looking for a not-ridiculously-expensive plumber, and AT used to have lists of services....

And yes, happy new year to all.
