kind of new to AT so hope i'm not mis-posting here. but open thread means open thread, right? ok... so i've got a bunch of slate tile that i used for a kitchen reno and i can't seem to even give them away for free on craigslist so figured the AT audience might be more receptive. They are great tiles. I used them for the floor. they are a true gray natural slate. i think there's about 15 sq ft left most of which are 4" x 4". There are also three 12" x 12" and another 1 - 2 sq ft of 1" x 1". would make for a nice backsplash or table tiling project. anyone interested please be in touch. smoothjacket@hotmail.com

Ssomeone help! Here is my new marble bath (in a co-op I am moving into soon hip hip!!) and I don't know whether the grout was sealed..is there a way to tell? How do I clean marble? Last, can I drill into it like one could with tile?
goonie, i've got the same toilet. lots of apartment buildings do. they're water-savers and have water pressure adjusters.
i guess they couldn't avoid installing the toilet so close to the tub, but now your shower curtain is gonna be all up in the way!

AndreaU, although the link didn't work, i checked out the rugs from that site and think all of them would work indoors. i say go for it! go with what you love. so what if something's been deemed 'outdoor'. some people have antique weather vanes on their walls as decor even though weather vanes are meant to sit on top of buildings but that doesn't mean they can't be fabulous indoors. it's all a matter of perspective.
Lots of people use sisal and jute in their living rooms these days, but I still think of it as the stuff you put on the back porch or mudroom.
I agree with HeatherLeaf -- don't let someone else's label box you in.

Anyone have names of furniture re-sellers, specifically of Scandinavian furniture? I have a beautiful Alvar Aalto table from the 1980s (bought directly from the authorized manufacturer in Finland) that sadly does not fit in our apartment. I've listed it on the AT classifieds and on Craigslist and have so far received no bites. I have a feeling that if I pounded the pavement on Atlantic Ave. with pictures of the table, I would find someone who would take it, but it always helps to have recommendations.
It is not Inwood--it is Bedford Park in the Bronx, which is a fabulous neighborhood! My one-bedroom pre-war was dirt cheap and I am a 10 minute walk to the NY botanical gardens--it is going to be loverly. But thanks for the welcome!

The dimensions are 53.5"W x 28"W x 20"H (approximately, I'm hoping I remember correctly as it is at home and I am at work). It's more of a big statement coffee table than a dining table. It served me and my family well for many years and it's in good shape.
I will re-list it on the AT classifieds and see if anyone else is interested. It goes for over $3000 brand new but I'm just looking to get a decent amount for it since it has sentimental value.

Hey everyone, I've got a mix and match question for everyone.
I own the 55" Zurich Media Console and would liek to find a coffee table to match it. (i happen to own the one without the top doors b/c the remotes don't work through it -- and i watch a lot of TV and would hate to keep opening and closing it -- eh maybe i should've gone with the one with the top doors who knows)
Any suggestions? Any glass top coffee table is out of the question as they are just too inconvenient to use.
Also what do people think when it comes to using either the same type of wood? or a different type of wood. I was thinking a coffee table with stainless legs and in maple... something like the R&B Basis or Copenhagen.
I'm open to anything thanks guys!

(i) Put a droplet of water on the grout. If it is sealed, it should bead.
(ii) You can drill into marble with a masonary drill bit.
