Anyone know where I could buy a display shelf like this one? It is an antique on in the picture but I don't care whether it is new or old...

Thanks!!

Anokha,
I've painted laminate kitchen cabinets and based on that, I can't recommend painting melamine shelves. Perhaps contact paper?

Thanks so much, Michelle and Lady J. It normally wouldn't be an issue, but they fit perfectly... I'm looking for shelves between 7.5'' - 8'' for a small, tight space.

I need to make/buy a cheap and high table. My idea is to make an office area by extending the working space in my kitchen so I can use it for office work. It needs to be 68 inches long, 36 inches high and maybe 18 inches deep. I rent so it can be something permanent. I am broke so it needs to be under $100.

Somewhere I remember seeing a hack of an IKEA Lack book shelf that was made into a table. Another alternative would be buying plywood and industrial pipe. Eitherway I need DIY instructions because I am marginally handy but cant figure out how to do this myself. Any suggestions?

Oops I meant it CANT be permanent because I rent. And I already went to IKEAhacker and I cant find it.

Don't you think it's strange that it's 1:30 and only 3 little items have been posted on the NY site?

What's up with the blogger searches for DC and Boston? I don't think we seen a post in almost a week- are they done? I feel like we're still missing a few third posts from some contestants.

Trumystique--

I am buying these shelves and my parents have had them holding heavy boxes in the garage for 20 years:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/range/10364/10898/

They can easily be configured into what you are talking about--and the desk shelf they have would be just the right size. They also come unfinished and can be painted or stained...at the very least you could use some pieces from it.
