I need an on-line source for towels in unusual colors. We redid our bathroom and I'm looking for something in bright orange or grape purple or peacock blue to add a splash of color.

A (reposted) question for the crowd-- what's your tolerance for delivery time on a non-custom item?

I was looking at this for a client:
http://madelineweinrib.com/ama/cotton_flatweaves/60-Black-Martini.html
the Madeline Weinrib flatweave cotton Martini rug in black and ivory (a "stock" color combo), in one of their standard sizes and was quoted a lead time of 3-5 MONTHS.

Am I crazy to say yes to that?

(PS: When I asked the salesperson, who took a WEEK to return my call, "Who says yes to that lead time??" she said (semi-snotty) "Everyone." If it were fro me, I'd walk, but my client loves it...)

Patrick — I just received two cabinets from the Conran store. I ordered them in October and was told there was a 6-8 week lead time. After a frustrating TWENTY FIVE weeks I finally got them (these were not a special order). Many friends wanted me to cancel the order but I wanted them so much that even though it was super-annoying...it was worth it. (I keep telling myself this). I'll post pictured next week.

I'm not sure this helps with your decision...but I've been there!

any chance you could get the weinrib retail? like at ABC Carpet? They have tons of weinrib rugs on hand...

i wouldn't wait that long, but i'm also not buying a $7000 rug

It IS from ABC Carpet. That's who's quoting this lead time.

And it is cotton, so definitely NOT a $7000 (wool) rug.

I really hate waiting that long for something like that, but if you both kind of love it, it really could be worth it. I think I'd still go for it. I get kind of determined and sort of dig my heels in about things like that sometimes.

Over the course of 3-5 months I'd probably find other rugs I liked just as much or more (I'm fickle like that) and would be kicking myself for waiting. But I suppose if your client really loves it and it's worth the wait to him/her, then that's what matters. And if "everyone" else is really willing to wait that long, it's not as though the loss of one order is going to perturb them much, so there goes any minute sense of justice withholding your business might yield...
