Anyone have any suggestions for a stylish, not too enormous, yet orthopedic version for a dog bed? I can't seem to find anything that fits all of the above (that doesn't cost a mint). I found an upholstered sofa-type bed that I loved but it was almost $900!! I love my dog, but that's a little extreme. My 90lb golden and I live in a spacious studio so it has to be big enough for her, but not so big that it eats up my floor space. Thanks.

I have another question (and sadly, no answer):
Who can suggest a stylish stacking chair? I saw come very modern ones on SSBS over the weekend, and I realized I need to get some stacking chairs.

BC,
Well my dog solved this for me, he now has a stylishly appointed, spacious bed. i just share it with him :)
what do you mean by stylish btw?

I guess by stylish, I mean clean lines (the bed I have now is kind of like an amorphous blob that oozes all over the floor). And a decent selection of colors/patterns to choose from would be nice. And I need orthopedic foam as my pup is getting a little older now and her joints aren't what they used to be.
I go to great lengths to keep my dog OFF the bed just so I can get some sleep. If she weren't such a bed hog, maybe we could come to an agreement :-)

Click my name. Fatboy (the makers of that cool new beanbaggy thing) make dogbeds as well in a bunch of colors and sizes. Very modern, but washable and soft. They just started carrying Marimekko(sp) as well.

Ooooh, I love the original Fatboy! I finally got to see one and test-drive in person on Sunday. So cool and comfy. And great selection of colors and patterns. Fitzu Society in L.A. carries their full line. They told me that it was their biggest seller. And they offer free shipping for online orders on the Fatboy line. PS Creede over at Grassroots Modern also blogged the Fatboy dogbed. (He just recently received one and gave it high marks.)

There's a company (Sumo Lounge) that makes Fatboy knockoffs. Click on the AT text link on the right side of your screen (so that AT can make some money), or http://www.sumolounge.com .

BC,
Click on the link in my name. I think the Pampered Puppy has just about every dog bed ever made, some really awesome variety.
Click on my name to see the bed that I'm leaning toward. it's a bit more than I wanted to pay (I have to get the XL since I have a big dog) but it's the only one that I really gravitate toward every time I see it.
Sarajane--
If I had to buy a stylish stacking chair right now (and didn't have to buy TOO many of them) I'd do the brand new Emeco/Starck collaboration featured here this (or last) week. Seriously gorgeous.
I think also the Bellini "Air" chair is a stacker.
Try Topdeq for a starter source. Or DWR.

Try also Chiasso or CB2, or Flaxart.
Or, if you lust after a higher-priced Nelson version, go to Circa50.com
And tell the b.f. YOU want it for Valentines Day. "To measure every minute of happiness with him." How could he refuse?!?! :)

I just bought a Fatboy for my spoiled pooch- but I don't think it's an orthopedic bed.

While we're on the subject of dogs, any suggestions for a cool/stylish water bowl to travel with?
I have tons of sites saved on my favorites so I have so much stuff at the ready. Some are pretty obscure sites. If you need a link up just let me know.

...I'm always off-topic, so I'll stop apologizing for it.
Can anyone tell me, realistically, how much it costs to have something reupholstered? My friend is thinking of buying a living room set on Craigslist, but doesn't need to loveseat, so I am thinking of going in with her on the deal. I think the loveseat would probably only cost me about $200. It's a pretty simple shape (click my name for link), but if it would cost more than I have to pay for the couch (of if the combined price is more than I'd have to pay for something new) it doesn't seem worth it.
Also, it's from EQ3... does anyone have any experience with this company? I have never been down to the showroom to try these out to see how the quality is.

I'm going to check out the craigslist one today. It looks like it's in pretty good shape, but it is a sort of dark brown color that wouldn't really match my apartment. Of course the couch I have now is both brown *and* ugly, so at least on the one front it would be a marked improvement. :)

well, the good thing about brown is that it is a neutral so it goes with a lot of things - plus with some cute accent pillows . . .

I don't know how much of a comparison this is, but a business in Washington I checked with earlier this year would charge at least $1000, fabric not included.

Back to the dog bed issue started by BC. I'm planning to make by lab a bed from the headboard and footboard of the little red wagon-wheel bed my son used, with some fabric from the site I saw on the link from Jenny and Clove's apartment. I saw a poster bed in a consignment shop that was made into a kind of chair by making the side boards really short and that gave me the idea. Those fold out chairs that make a single sized mattress make great dog beds and they are pretty cheap. my dog loves hers.
