Whew! Whoever designed the U.S. put the left coast way too far from Europe.
The surprise discovery: in Vienna, at the inner end of Mariahilferstrasse and the surrounding streets, there are a ton of rather nifty housewares and furniture stores. I don't have photos because I lack the German skills to explain that I'm not committing corporate espionage... but well worth exploring when one's taste for Baroque is, um, sated.
Somebody out there! Weeks ago there was a discussion about magnetic boards and links to go get 'em - but I can't find either.
Can you please help me find good, large, magnetic boards - many thanks.

Totally different subject: Got some great deals at the Broadway Panhandler moving sale. Set of 5 Duralex bowls, a new cutting board, 2 silicon potholders, a really nice stainless steel saucier (can't remember brand), an apron, some new mugs - all for just over $100. There are a ton of gadgets, appliances, cookware sets (incl. le creuset) on sale. The yard was a bit of a madhouse - the singer warbling out John Denver covers didn't help - but worth the effort. I think the sale continues through next weekend.

JW--not sure of the specific magnetic board posting, but three by three makes some cool magnetic things--and Container Store sells them. They're fairly small. There's always the option of painting a wall with magnetic paint, too!

We're going to take a slight detour away from this whole conversation by Mr. Gary Lynch as we didn't see all that he had written earlier. He started out fine enough, but quickly devolved.....His language is sooo not in keeping with the mission of this blog.
ok, i must apologize for throwing in the holly-hobby excitement about broadway panhandler right after the upsetting ikea back and forth. i didn't get it the first time around, but now i do (didn't read mr. lynch's original full post, but read enough of the edited version to get the gist of its odiousness).
anyway, bway panhandler sale is good, but there are obviously more weighty matters to consider than shopping. hm, no more skimming comments for me.

Totally new topic: I feel like somewhere in my life I have seen a skinny desk in which all surfaces are mirrored. Or maybe mirror and chrome. Maybe in one of the design mags? Anybody out there ever seen one? If so, where?
All I can think of when I hear "Mudhen" is the minor league baseball team from Toledo, Ohio.
