can anybody suggest a good humidifier that is easy to maintain/clean?

So we finally bought the Artemis ceiling fan online. We bought it in white per the store's photos, which they described as 'pearl white'. It turns out that the fan is actually ivory. The store is now waiving the restocking fee but wants to charge us for the free shipping we got. We're sending the fan back. We feel like we were deceived b/c 'pearl white' is a subjective description so we went by the picture. What would you do about it? Swallow the free shipping or fight it?

nd,

Swallow it. From what I understand, colors will appear differently on computer screens depending on how they are configured. So on my screen it may have appeard ivory. On yours, it obviously appeared white.

I'm back. I just called G2 and they said that their pearl white fan is almond. Great job...

re: humidifiers. i think it depends on the room size but i've been really happy with my vornado humidifier. i think i bought it through amazon.com--very easy to clean, does a good job, and the filters are not very expensive. i generally clean it 1-2x/week with a water/white vinegar solution which seems to work great.

i woke up with such a dry nose this morning and was thinking that it was time to break it out again for the fall/winter.

I've read that Venta is a really good humidifier and purifier in one. It's expensive, so I'd love to hear any user feedback before I spring for one.

Does anyone know the name of those vintage pots and pans that were all over the smallest apartment contest? I want to say Kruset but I don't think that's it.

as far as humidifiers, I have a vicks and it's on it's last leg, works great but is a pain to clean, the easiest ones I've seen to clean are the tub kind, like the one at the top of the page here

Le creuset?

Can anyone recommend a well made over the door shoe rack? Ive got a lot of shoes and need something sturdy and not hideous. Is there such a thing?(more substantial than the white coated wire ones you see everywhere)

Le Crueset...woodbury commons has an outlet with every color/style and discontinued/imperfect colors and styles as well....i made out like a bandit recently and could not be any happier. they were having a sale on the cast iron - it might still be going on...

loli

i have one that is vinyl with pockets that fastens to the door with hooks, kind of like a shower cutrain. my bf gifted it to me after he tried using it - evidently the pockets aren't big enough for men's shoes...he got it at target.

Cat,
Thanks but I guess that's not it.
They had more angular handles than round like creuset's.

Humidifiers

This link is really good. Read the "full story" below.

so a week and ahalf ago I painted my bedroom. I used the 'American tradition' paint from Lowes. I did one coat on about 380 s.f. of wall and got pretty good coverage.

My problem is that my bedroom still smells like paint. I have tries keeping the windows open for days at a time to increase circulation, but there is still a noticeable paint smell. Anyone else had this problem? I painted my hallway with Benjamin Moore 4 weeks ago and had no such issue.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of the smell any faster?

I have a Venta Airwasher that humidifies and purifies. I love it. It's really easy to use and to clean.

I've used an Air-O-Swiss humidifier over the last few winters: it humidifies beautifully and the filter cartrige all but eliminates limescale.

i've got laminate flooring (dark wood effect) in the foyer and the kitchen. it was installed by the previous owner after some dishwasher flooding accident and I HATE IT. it is exceptionally sturdy though and i can't bother to change it, so i decided to paint it white. can somebody advise on what paint should i use on laminate, should i prep it, etc? should i move the furniture (the kitchen cabinets), or just paint around it?

I also vote for the Air-o-Swiss. I try to remember to stock up on filters and the silver ion stick with those 20% off coupons from Bed, Bath and Beyond.
