Interested in hearing others opinions and situations on this one...

not specifically related to the inside dwelling, but i'm curious about where AT readers live in NYC, and also what their favorite and least-favorite neighborhoods are.

not sure if others care, but i think it would be fun to hear from everyone.

me-

live: chelsea

favorites: carroll gardens, west village, chelsea

least fav: UES, meatpacking at night (like it during day), soho during day

anyone else?

I'm trying to install my bedroom curtains. Does anyone know how ot drill through a wall stud?

I've located the stud ok, but my drill doesn't seem to be able to penetrate the stud.

Do I need a special drill bit?
Should I just apply more force?

I think I have metal studs since my building is new construction (about 3 years old).

live: upper west side (quiet, mostly clean, convenient to trains, zabars, citarella, & fairway love it.)

favorites: west village; upper west side(quiet, mostly clean, convenient to trains, zabars, citarella, & fairway love it.)

least favorite: lower east side (lived over what once was ludlow bar for 2 years and it was truly awful, plus hipsters are annoying.), soho, upper east side (yawn).

danae--
If you indeed have metal studs, drilling through them shouldn't be difficult. Actually, their ease of assembly is one of the reasons they are so widely used in large-scale residential projects.

I'd try a different drill to see if a little more oomph might do the trick (I find corded drills to have more kick than cordless ones). If that doesn't work, maybe you've found something other than a stud....

live: Clinton Hill

Faves: Clinton Hill/Fort Greene, Cobble Hill, East Village/LES, the West Village when i'm in a good mood (when i'm in a bad mood it depresses me because i'll never be able to afford anything more than a Magnolia cupcake there). Anywhere in Queens.

Least Faves: Upper West Side, Park Slope, certain aspects of Williamsburg and DUMBO.

I have a random question pertaining to yesterday's post with the Nate Berkus living room, which basically looks exactly like mine, I even have the same C&B Prado couch. I've been searching for a living room table similar to the white one pictured: does anyone recognize it? Or know of a relatively affordable piece that is similar? The rest of my furniture is espresso colored, not unlike the photo. Thanks!

Why, Oppo, would you live in Clinton Hill and not like Park Slope? Does that position make some sort of statement to you? I continue to detest you.

In other news, the chunkster has GIVEN BIRTH to another heir and progency of my loins. She is stunning beautiful and I am already concerned about the riff-raff she will bring home in the years to come.
