I 'm looking for a hanging light fixture that will hold 2 medium lampshades, like the kind they put over pool tables except I'd like it to be very simple, basically a metal rod with 2 light sockets on it that I can hang over my dining table. Any ideas?
Hot or Not?
What do you think of the pair of table lamps (click on my name to see them)? Hip or Trash? Also what about the price?
Thanks
Archie - really cool and great price. Lampshades will cost $$$.
Archie--
I vote yes, especially at that price.
You can get lampshades (custom) for about $60 and up (each).
Archie, those lamps are beautiful!

It's never the object that's hip or trash, but what you do with it.
I hope it's appropiate to post this here, but Maxwell did a really nice Q&A with Judith Miller the antiques expert for our blog. Check it out.
My take on the lamps: I really dig them, as long as there's no bong resin.
Who else is walking the island on Sunday?!
Maxwell, SK,
I think I speak for all NYC renovators in pre-war land when I say "We're dying. We need to see that kitchen." Please
I am desperately looking for some interesting, colorful lampshades for two lamps. I have only seen some at Anthroplogie, with 98 dollar pricetags. Does anyone have any sources?
Thank you.
Oh, if it wasn't clear from my original post, I can't afford expensive shades. Looking so spend no more than $40.
Thank you.
Just Shades on ... um... Spring St. Lotsa shades, great service. Not cheap, but here's my success story: watched a lamp at Anthropologie go from $159 to $79 to $29. Then went into Just Shades and paid $65+ for a perfect shade.
The woman there was excellent, tho I recommend taking in your lamp, or at least having measurements. She measured my "its about this tall, this wide, etc" hand gestures, and I took home the *perfect* shade! Good Luck!!
She was also great on putting the shades on a sample lamp, so I could see the texture when they are illuminated. If I had been in a store alone, I would have bought a much-too-textured shade, because it didn't show the texture so much on the shelf! Good to know!
Maybe they have cheaper shades, I don't know. They did have a sale section....

Try the Kate's At Home store.
Click my name for the AT link about it.
Or The Terence Conran Store.
My favorite source is Trans Luxe, but they may be higher priced than you want.
Archie -
I think they'll be gorgeous in the right space with the right shade.
I agree with Curtis, nice in the right space.
Not cheap, but if you need the perfect shade, hand made, Judi's Lampshades in BK, made wonderful shades for me from a vintage piano scarf that was in tatters. I think she also has space on the first floor of ABC.
Anyone go to the DWR annex this weekend?
Does anyone out there know whether you can combine a (standing) shower with an undermount bathtub (with a stone deck), and NOT suffer leaks? My husband is growling at me that it is a bad fit, and our bathroom reno is stalled over it. Anyone out there know how to make such a configuration waterproof????
