I'm curious to know what everyone is doing to decorate for Christmas at the office.

I've done my cube with a tinsel tree (silver tree with silver blown glass ornaments), a white silhouette garland, and a rendition of the Cole & Son wallpaper of the birch trees featured in yesterday's post.

Anyone else?

Maxwell, any chance for a special post around what ATers do to their homes for holiday decorating?

I would love to see what other people do in their spaces.

I was half-watching a show on HGTV ("Home To Go") the other day and it was on how to decorate your home for the holidays using inexpensive materials for a more modern sense of style. There were some good ideas; I wish I had been paying more attention. The places that were transformed all looked pretty good; largely free of the typical schmaltzy-traditional stuff. I would imagine it might be run again fairly soon.

I know this isn't "apt." related but have to ask if anyone knows of or has a favorite contemporary jewelry designer here in the city. I have a couple of stones I want to put into a unique ring.

Anne - go to Karen Karch at her shop down on Mulberry St. Not cheap by any stretch, but beautiful and unique stuff.

anne - almost forgot- her shop is called Push.

I would not only love to see how people decorate for the holidays, I'd love to see how they decorate from January 1 through April 1. How do people use decorations to get through that depressing stretch of gray weather and lack of fun holidays?

For Christmas I am putting big red bows on all of the my leftover Apple packaging I use to decorate my apt.

Not doing anything.

This is a place of business, not fun.

Most important part of Xmas decorating... the dollhouse people get the campy blue glitter reindeer ornaments from Target as yard ornaments. Must get those up this weekend.

I'll be hanging my Apple packaging as ornaments.

Nonononono, Pixie -- You hang the ornaments *and* the boxes they came in! That way, you get two fabulous instances of the great design for the price of one... and eliminate waste.

(That would be so weirdly postmodern that I expect to see it in a feature on Jean Baudrillard's apartment, assuming he's alive and has an apartment. No doubt he'd do Hallmark collector ornaments for the ultimate in camp.)

Hi Anne,

Re: jewelry designers, Marichko on Wooster street (between Broome and Grand) is awesome!

HGTV is simply appalling.

andy and al - thanks for the recommendations. That's a big help. I'm going to check out both ASAP because I really want these diamonds (mother's old engagement rings) made into something I can wear for a long time.

As a side note - one of the rings wouldn't come off my finger after 3 days of doing everything I could think of so I had someone CUT it off. My finger was so swollen from trying to remove it that it was beginning to hurt.
