hey - opoponax
re: DIY tree ornaments, you could string popcorn. It's easy, you get a wool needle and some thread, and pop some corn, then just poke through the popped corn. You can even throw in some dried cranberries, jujubes or wooden beads for color. so cheap and pretty.

You can string fresh cranberries too - they're really beautiful - they look like glossy beads. With both popcorn and cranberries, you can put them out for the birds later.

Hey, Opo! Glad to "see" you again!

I vote for paper snowflakes. You can make them all sizes, and all different patterns (no two snowflakes are alike, so they say). I found oodles of sites for patterns, by googling paper snowflakes, here are a couple (sorry about the fact that one says "for children")

Enjoy! Will you post a pic of your finished tree on your Flickr?

I'm going to ask this again in hopes of a response. Someone here must have some info/opinion on this:

Does anyone have an opinion on the Classic Sofa sleepers? I'm shopping for a sleeper for a client and we were both wondering just how comfortable their sleepers are. Anyone?

Thank you for the answers re: ceiling height, everyone!

(I'm afraid I won't have the energy and time to repaint the ceiling though... I'll save that for the next "reno").

Opoponax: our family has a tradition of making a toy each year that symbolizes an important event from that year (a tiny cardboard bone for when we got a dog, tiny Canadian passports when we became citizens, flags of my Euro trip when I left on exchange) - maybe think of an event that occurred this year and make a little toy for that? (you can go back of course too!) It takes effort, but it is so nice to have those memories!

(you can make it out of colored paper scraps from *anything* - business cards you don't need anymore, shiny files that are old and useless, paperclips, straws..)

Do any of you have the Oh chair?

Is it comfortable enough to be a desk chair?
And where is a good place to order one from online (price, reliability, etc..)?

Thanks all!

is anyone else depressed about not winning the Gift Bag bedding yesterday? I can't stop thinking about it!

Sarah - I loved the bedding too! But can you imagine how happy the winner must truly be!

Maybe sAnTa will find me tonight. ;)

I HAVE A PEST PROBLEM.
THERE IS A RODENT IN MY WALL/CEILING.

Hopefully a mouse, but I fear it is a rat. I'm looking at getting one of those electronic pest repellers. I've found two kinds in my googling, and if I understand correctly, they work in two different ways.

PEST CHASER:
http://www.healthsafetypro.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SON-PC600C&Category_Code=PESTC

Has a speaker that produces a variable ultrasonic sound that drives rodents crazy and makes them leave.

RIDDEX PRO:
http://www.opamerica.com/product_info.php/products_id/1834

Seems to work in a similar way, but has less description of how it actually works. There is no speaker, and if I'm reading this correctly, it seems to produce the ultrasonic vibrations by sending some sort of pulse through you homes electrical wiring.

Sarah/JenPDX: I went on the website yesterday and actually designed the beddings I would want. I even customized the room view so that it approximated the look of my bedroom. (The printout is sitting in my printer tray, sitting there and just mocking me.) So, yeah, I'm bummed that I didn't win, too. That shit would've looked sweet in my pad!

Opo,

I've done home made ornaments for years. It's actually a collection of Altoid tins and red stripe beercaps with ornament hangers on them. It started out as kind of a joke since my former roommate had stacks of old tins. But teh truth is the tins are teh right color scheme and I kinda dig the 'home made'-ness of it now...

Hi Anne,
Don't have a sleeper, but have a regular classic sofa. hands down, the best constructed piece of upholstery I've ever seen. If the sleeper is as well made as the sofa, should be fine. Have you tried one out in the showroom?

posted by Al on 2006-12-16 10:30:08

Al, Thank you so much for your input. My client is going to check out their pieces in the showroom this coming week. I want her to get the St. Thomas sofa/sleeper. It's beautiful and it's close, if not the same sofa that is in the Wm. Sonoma Home catalog called Wilshire.

Does anyone know of a source for a modern, spinning night light for a baby's room?

I'm looking for something similar to the one featured in Maya's bedroom on "Six Feet Under", for those that watched the show. It was a simple wood frame with rice paper screen that conceals a spinning shade on the inside.

Thanks.
