I didn't see a "comments/questions" section over on the The Kitchen board...so I'm asking here...about cookies!

I bought a package of cookies at some random deli a year or more ago. I am haunted by the cookies, they were fabulous. I can't remember the name of the baker...but I do remember that it was a man, he baked out of his apartment on Houston Street and supposedly Oprah spotlighted the cookies once - several years ago. The cookies were sesame seed & ginger. They were heaven in a bag. I have google'd high and low and can't find/remember his name. Is this ringing a bell for anyone?

Can anyone comment on the quality of the ceiling fans from either:

G-Squared (made by Minka Aire) or

The Modern Fan Company?

I thinking about the 'Concept II' or 'Ball' fan, respectively.

Thanks

I have an Acero fan from Minka Aire, and it's great. It's quiet, wobble-free, and reversible from the remote. Much better than the one it replaced. It required no special adjustment when installing it--just worked. Only had it for a few months, so I can't speak to long-term reliability, but it seems solid.

I was watching tonite's Small Space, Big Style (HGTV) and saw a great idea for a dining room table: two moveable end tables that have a giant leaf to place in between. Any idea where I could buy such a thing or will I have to custom make it? Thanks!

Is anyone else having a problem with the AT website? When I go to the page the only choice available is ATNY--no list of la, san fran, chicago, kitchen, nursery, home tech, etc.

I've tried in Safari and Firefox with the same results. Any ideas?

I am having my daughter's room painted by my building painter(rental) and there is not fee but what is a reasonable tip rate for three men?.The room is small and he thought it would not take long.

Any thoughts appreciated.

They are being paid (hourly) by somebody, I assume? How about lunch plus $20 each?

I'm a midwesterner, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks Jon. I'm in a bad food neighborhood but I think refreshing beverages and 25 to 30 per person.
No grain of salt needed.
