Anyone got any tips on how I can repaint a modern white credenza? The original paint is a glossy white, kind of like lacquer. My contractor taped the doors during a floor sanding project. Now the paint is coming off with the tapes. How do I repaint the whole thing? or at least touch up so it doesn't show.

i'm trying to find realty sites or brokers that feature modern homes for sale in the new york area (hudson valley, etc)

anyone have some suggestions?

none of the major realty sites allow searching by home STYLE. and keywording "modern" comes up with 345346457345 listings for colonial homes hehe

thanks!

Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know of a cheap glass mosaic tile source? I'm looking for the tiny 1 inch by 1 inch mosaic tiles which come mesh backed on large 12 inch by 12 inch sheets. I'm just looking for something neutral for a kitchen backsplash which I've decided to change at the last minute but funds are really low. I live just outside Philadelphia so it would need to be somewhere close to Philly or online would be fine too. Thanks in advance!

Bondgirl,

What would you recommend in the US$120-180 range in Toledo?

rant!

my mom and i seen this table (the Knoll Cyclone Dining table), or rather a close rip-off in a garage sale across the street for $100 (CAD, we're in Toronto). She has no-where to put it (not her style), and our apartment is WAY too tiny for it.

Argh. I knew it was something great - loved it at first sight - but didn't know who was the original designer.

and Toronto craigslist is just FULL of ikea stuff.

end rant.

reef. i live outside philly too :-) but the best price i found was online at http://www.susanjablonmosaics.com/p_TileCatalog.cfm

i ordered the sample packs of the 3/4x3/4 (SUPER cheap) and the 1x3's. the 1x3's are mesh backed, but i think the 3/4x3/4 are paper fronted. i ended up buying the 1x3 running brick pattern ones for a backsplash and LOVE them.

Maybe above your price range considering the Euro vs. dollar issues, but Hotel Lliabeny is spotless (this is from a neurotic)and central in Madrid. I liked the Hotel Pintor El Greco in Toledo less because it's rooms could use some modernizing, but it was still what most people would call fine and also well located. Enjoy your travels!

I should add that I took that trip maybe 4 years ago... maybe not the most current information.

Hi gekko,

Take a look at the NH hotels. They're all over Spain (quite a few in Madrid) and they have reasonable prices and nice accomodations. I can't say what the prices are exactly but I had my wedding in Madrid last November and most of my guests stayed in an NH which they liked. One of my friends stayed in a hotel called Soho which she really liked and was probably in that price range as well!

I second the Hotel Lliabeny choice. Toledo was always a day trip for me, but friends of my thought the Parador de Toledo quite nice, but I suspect it is over the $120 range.

I love the parsons desk at West Elm, and would love to use it as an office desk for the computer, but for some reason they decided to give it 2 small drawers instead of 1 keyboard drawer.

Has anyone seen it, and thought about how easy it would be to modify the 2 drawers into a keyboard tray?
