I think most faux finishes are tacky, but the blue DeLuca wall above totally inspired me. I am not going to put fresco and plaster on my living room wall, however. Is there any realistic DIY way to get anything like that look? Thanks!

Rant - you may want to skip this.

I live in a prewar building - guessing it may be 80 years old. My landlord decided to update my kitchen, taking out my old fashioned white double sink and 6-door long cabinets, painting the walls, etc. I was so happy to get my kitchen into modern times.

I came home yesterday all excited to see the new fixtures. I'm in a deep depression now. I have no storage! They replaced my 3 huge cabinets with one 2-door small cabinet that won't even hold a full size box of cereal because its too shallow and the shelves are very low. More than half of the stuff I had in the cabinets is piled on the floor, until I can purchase some kind of shelving/storage unit to stash all my food, dishes, pots, storage containers, appliances and utensils.

The sink sucks too. Its a very shallow stainless steel sink - if you have more than 2 dishes and a glass in it, the sink is overcrowded. The side surface/counter of the sink is extremely narrow; is barely wide enough to hold a dish drainer. Also, the super put a burn mark on the fake granite (plastic) surface while installing it. I wish I had a time machine to bring my old kitchen back.

patty1h--

I'd write your landlord a very civil letter expressing your concern, focusing on how the kitchen you have now, while updated, is not the kitchen you had when you signed up for when you signed your lease.

You also need to specifically point out the burn mark, although I would not attribute it to the super directly. If you don't point it out now, chances are good he will charge YOU for it when you move out.
