Hi - I have some high resolution digital photographs that I'd like to get cropped, enlarged (probably to poster size) and framed. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where it would be best to get this done?
Thanks!
"Poster Size" can mean a lot of different sizes. To do it on the cheap I used snapfish and got a 20" x 30" print for $20 plus shipping. I cropped it myself but you can do it online. It was from an old slide my dad shot in the 1960's (I'd had 500 of them bulk scanned and color corrected). I'm very pleased with the results. It was shipped in a tube and I let the print "relax" for a week or so before framing.
MUJI is supposedly opening two stores in New York sometime this year, according to WWD (subscription needed to read the darn article). No word on exactly where or when though.
This would be fabulous - MUJI is a "must" whenever I'm in Dublin or London. Fingers crossed the prices won't be markedly higher here.
I recommend Excel art and framing on Hudson Street. They will mount and frame standard poster sizes for an insane $40 or something like that. The frame is a thin, black metal frame but so what? I had tons of stuff framed by them about 8 years ago and it still looks great.
Hi,
DOes anyone else have trouble buying from etsy? I have found it to be a nightmare. Stuff never shows up I paid for, no one responds, the check out is horrible they over charge shipping and won't correct it, etc. It's such a shame as it has loads of cute stuff but seems horribly run and designed as a site. Anyone else finding this?
I've had four good transactions from three separate etsy sellers. Only the last one was uncommunicative, but she did ship my item in a timely fashion.
Apologies... I didn't realize that there was already a post about the new MUJI stores coming to town!
(must learn to scroll more thoroughly...)
This is my first post ever on AT! I'm hoping someone can help me with a solution for covering up/dressing up those hideous ceiling light fixtures that come in NYC apts... I'll post a pic of them in Good Questions one day, but I'm wondering if any one has ever used the Tord Boontje's Garland Light to dress it up?
Thanks!
N one could help me with this on the AT:SF board, so maybe NY knows....!
Anyway, I want curtains in this print:

But I can't find them. I just want curtains that look like the woods...I saw something similar in the film Wicker Park but have no idea where to find them.

I fell in love with the Diamond Baratta townhouse in elle decor article 'rhapsody in blue'. I'd love to paint one wall of my bedroom a similar color to the one shown in the master bedroom and reverse painted glass in the bedroom. (My bedroom gets full southern sun and has a ginormous mahogany armoire and a taupe/gray silk headboard)Any paint mavens have a guess of a good benjamin moore match (or nice blue color you love??! Thanks!
That's going to be tough to find Shannon. I'm assuming someone has already suggested trying to find a fabric and making them yourself or having them made?
Shannon, it's not the same, but Marimekko has some prints that you might like.
The Tuuli pattern, for instance:

There's also Kaiku, which is less subdued:

Chris in Annapolis -- what does it mean to have images "bulk scanned"? Is there a photographic and/or digitizing service that does such a task? I have a mess of prints that I need to scan but have been putting it off because there are rather a lot of them.
Would love to hear people's feedback on the BoConcept Zen sofa. If you've had it for a while, how has it held up? Is it comfortable as a bed?
It was mentioned here:

"i have more" (strange days)

I've only ever had positive experiences with Etsy - I've ordered five things from three sellers and all responded to my questions quickly and shipped quickly. I also received a refund on discounted shipping for buying the three seperate items from one seller.
It is a shame that you've had such poor experiences. I can understand it though - there are so many different people selling on the one site, its luck of the draw, I guess.
Anyone have ideas to store stuffed animal collections? I have a good 40 animals and no great idea to store them...I buy them mostly from etsy(which I have never had problems with btw).
Ideas?
I like what I've seen on here in a picture of somebody's nursery - there was a shelf around the room about a foot below the ceiling and they were all displayed there.
summerinbrooklyn, i have the todd boontje (don't remember the name of it) brass thingie that you drape around a light bulb/ceiling fixture. it looked a bit stark over a plain bulb, so i got a colored bulb in a low wattage, and now it looks good.
i'd recommend it.
shannon, there was a post about this a while ago:

michele sold the fabric then, she might still:
If you are still interested in purchasing the fabric that looks just like the woods pattern by Cole and Son, I sell it. I also sell all of the Cole and Son Papers at my store in Chicago called Verde Design Studio.

Hi, I am looking for info on a store in NYC that has closed down. The store sold vintage inustrial furniture, lamps, charts, stools etc...it was located on Houston St ahd Elizabeth (facing the outdoor furniture store)......It has been closed fo a while now and I was wondering if anyone knows if they relocated or just shut up shop?
Thanks, J
Um, that was meant for kelly. I wish I could find the pic but there was a room where someone had installed a shelf all the way around the room about a foot below the ceiling. With all the stuffed animals on display it looked adorable. I don't know how else to describe it. Will keep looking for the pic.
oh my god, michele, that's perfect. i'll be purchasing some for sure!
james, i love that store and have browsed there many times. The name is B 4 it was cool, i called their number and got the answering machine, no message about being closed. good luck.
Thanks Patrick!
Anne, is that what you were talking about?

I love this apartment!!
Kelly I have often recommended to clients whose kids have a bunch of animals, that you can display them on floating shelves, on a shelf that runs around the top of a room about 18 inches from the ceiling, or in hanging hammocks of netting from the ceiling. You can also sew a small plastic ring onto each one and then hang them on the wall on small hooks or even attach a length of plastic chain across the wall, and hang them on there with s-hooks or something. There are a lot of options.
