Hey there! Does anyone have the link to the floor plan of Maxwell and Sara Kate's apartment? I'm curious about how the dimensions compare to a new space a friend is looking at.

Thanks!

Another question, if I may. Recently, there was a posting about nature-inspired bathroom accessories, including a silvery tall towel rack that looked like branches on a pole... but again, now I can't find. Anyone know how to locate that again?

Thanks again!

i need a new bed (not a mattress, but a bedbed) and am looking at Malm at Ikea.

now, i have a full size mattress, but am planning, in the future, on getting a new queen mattress... i can't afford both at once, so:

can i get a queen malm bed and use my full mattress on it? i wonder about the slatted base, and if there will be a lot of visible slats if i throw a full mattress on it for now...

any ideas?

also, are there any platform beds out there (inexpensive??) that don't have SLATS but that are solid wood?

P.S.:

i randomly found this photo online of a smaller mattress in a bigger Malm bed: http://therobincident.com/wp-content/bed1.jpg

not pretty.

a few years ago i had gotten a queen size malm bed but had a full sized mattress. did not work AT ALL. i had to shell out for a new mattress the next day.

As far as platform beds go,

they are sturdy and not that expensive

Whoops. I put my question on the old thread.

I may purchase this cool mid-century dining set for $125.00 Seller says it is sturdy except for the four chairs. It is the hutch, buffet, table, chairs and table pads.

Is this a good deal??

kdkaboom,

You could also cut a piece of plywood the size of the Malm's mattress well, paint or otherwise finish it, lay it over the slats, and get rid of it or re-purpose it when you get your queen mattress. It's not going to be super gorgeous, but it will probably look a better than the exposed slats.

sorry, forgot to add kd:
I had a similar slat situation on my old platform bed and added plywood between the mattress and the slats for better support...

happy weekend!

kdkaboom,

What about building your own platform bed out of two doors? It is pretty easy. Here is a link to the AT LA post on how to make my mom's platform bed. It would work for both a full size and a queen.

elevenhounds -- only $125? Wowza! Take a close look at the most visible wood surfaces and make sure you're dealing with either real wood that can be refinished or veneer that is not seriously damaged. Major veneer problems are what's most likely to turn a cool dining set into junk, as the cost and hassle of re-veneering add up. Also, if it's wood and needs refinishing, are you up for it? Minor finish problems can be solved by applying Restor-A-Finish, so don't despair at a little cloudiness or shallow scratches.

Wobbliness in chairs is no big deal -- that's usually either loose glue or stripped screws. Replace screws; reglue; clamp while the glue dries. (Add to list of Household Tasks I Need to Tackle... *sigh*... it really is easy, though, if you actually do it.)

If there are no serious finish problems, that's one heck of a deal.
