Looking for a way to display my postcard collection... One option is magnetic wall paint and small magnets. Does anyone know where I might buy some kind of wall-mounted, decorative postcard holder?

southernwayfarer,

Maybe you could use something like this: http://tinyurl.com/2osls3 ?

Why not display them the way they were meant to be displayed?

MrGreen is particularly fond of the ones that spin.

I bought my postcard holder a few years ago from Restoration Hardware. It hangs on the wall and only holds about 20 postcards, but I rotate them by season, holiday, subject, etc.

Careen I love the idea of rotating them and just having a few displayed. Southerwayfarer, have a look on the sfgirlbybay blog (link just to your right, under "more friends"!) at the postcards on the walls.

Tin_angel is pointedly ignoring the oddly beguiling sarcasm of a certain contributor! (Although she is in no way wishing to diminish the significance of all things green, which she considers very important. In fact she is about to cook some of the potatoes from her organic vgetable plot!)

tin_angel apparently does not know how to tell when MrGreen is being sarcastic. He gathers that she did not like the table stands even though they were designed for displaying postcards to their best advantage and are attractive in addition to being functional.

Maybe she will prefer this:

Hey guys--
I need an overhead light for a bedroom. It cannot hang down at all as the ceilings are low--but everything I find looks like it belongs in the bathroom or kitchen.
I've done all the pbarn, restoration hardware routes.
Pendants or chandeliers would be great but the bedroom (which is tiny) only holds a bed--and your head would smash into any light hanging down when getting near the bed. I am open to anything modern and cool, or DIY.
HELP please! Thanks!

southernwayfarer,

maybe something like this at urban outfitters?

I like the way it lets you display photos/postcards both horizontally and vertically. I am thinking of getting one for photographs.

Good luck!

taracakes,

Not sure of your budget, but I have been drooling over this one for a while ...

taracakes,

I know you said you don't want anything that hangs down at all... but would an 11" drop be okay? This is the chandelier I bought for my bedroom, where a 4-poster bed means no big crazy pendants:

The flippy-clock screensaver post from this afternoon reminded me... does anyone know of a good website for downloading free, sophisticated, modern wallpaper/desktop themes? I could've sworn I once knew of a site for this (I even downloaded Eames chair icons) but I can't remember for the life of me. Thanks!

Hi there -

What is the best way to remove those non-skid appliques from a tub? We are in a rental and I don't want to do any damage (like remove enamel or leave a sticky residue) or have a messy experience because I didn't know the magic trick to get them off easily.

Thanks!
