Hello Everyone,

I have been looking for a small stool for my apartment, I need the extra seating. I would love for it to have thin legs and a fabric cushion I could re-cover. Everything I see online is big and over stuffed or too sleek and modern. I would love to find something in a light wood. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

Lynne F --

I don't have a source, per se. But I just found two small stools at a flea market. I got a solid wood, hand-hewn set for $30. I'd lookat places like that.

Other question --
My Boy and I recently found out that we are allowed to use a grill on the rooftop deck of our building. We can't store it up there, though. We would have to bring it inside.

So, obviously it needs to be pretty compact. And lightweight so we can drag it up at least one flight of stairs with a turn in it. I was thinking of a hibachi style.

Plus, it would have to be fairly easy to clean once we brought it downstairs (no running water on the roof). We could dump the ash safely, but then I'd need to wipe out all of the residue and get the grill completely clean of food since we'll be storing it indoors.

Do any of you chic city dwellers have a recommendation? How do you solve your desire for grilling if you live in an apartment?

Many thanks.

The tiny Weber kettle grills are pretty light -- "Smokey Joe" I think is the name. I picture habachis made of cast iron, and that won't do you any good...
Weber also makes some very stylish propane grills that pack up neatly but they're pretty heavy, and they're propane not charcoal which sorta misses the point imho.

Nicole R--

Ikea usually has a compact model when their Summer stuff rolls in. It's very small and portable, round and very cute.

If they don't this year, I have an unused one I could be persuaded to part with! ;)

Scheherazade is located at 121 Orchard Street, near Delancy. If you like its stuff, also try Timbuktu on Second near Second.

ShannonSF, those Eva Solo objet make me crazy with their quality and beauty. Never seen *that* grill! I covet the coffee maker . . .

Anyone know if/where/when Eva Solo has sample sales?

I was on line earlier looking into the pet food recall. I feel for anyone effected by this. Fortunately, I am not, but while there on the site, I ran across a list of plants that are poisonous to cats. Even though my 3 have fresh grass provided, they will still eat just about anything green. This is important as you decide on which flowers you will add to your decor each week. You can review the list and/or print it out at: purina.com then under cat care select safety and then poisonous plants.

Lynne F, i saw a couple of small fabric-covered euro stools at the columbus flea market today, as well as several chinese ones.

someone (jonathan b?) had posted once about les/east village flea markets, i can't seem to find that post any more -- if anyone knows what i'm talking about or has some tips on that scene, let me know, thanks.

I saw this on qvc last week. They were showing the first one. They were saying it was especially made for apts who cant have a propane grill. I thought it was neat, the guy said you still get that grilled taste even though it is electric.

If the link dont work, let me know.
