Mattress question. I looked through the archives, but didn't see quite the info I was looking for, so here goes...

The Sonno mattress from DWR vs Tempurpedic.

I know that many AT'ers own the Sonno, but I'd like to hear from people that considered both; which they chose and why.

Thanks!

I own the sonno, I tested both and found the tempurpedic a little more like laying down was a *thud*

sonnos tend to stay cooler as well because of their special cover.

I've had mine for just about 6 months, it's hands down the best sleep I've ever had.

follow-up to an earlier question

I was looking for an undercounter mount for some kitchen storage.
Container Store didn't used to have it, but they do now.
Too bad for me, it's white only and one of their cheaper constructions for a wire basket.
But it'll do for now, so thanks P2!

Anyone interested in small/cool living spaces should check out artist Andrea Zittel's career retrospective called "Critical Space". She's been dealing with the issue of basic needs living for most of her career--You can see some live interviews with her at www.pbs.org/art21/artists/zittel/index.html

Anyone know where I might be able to find a coffee table similar to this console table:

http://www.pier1.com/catalog/productdetail.aspx?oid=122296&returnURL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.pier1.com%2fcatalog%2fsearch.aspx%3ffh_location%3d%2f%2fpier1direct%2fen_US%26fh_search%3dfoshan%26fh_search_pass%3dliteral%26fh_view%3dsearch&fh_location=//pier1direct/en_US&fh_search=foshan&fh_search_pass=literal&fh_view=search

I actually really like the painted finish -- my room has a lot of dark wood and brown leather already. Any leads would be appreciated!

I liked that you could get the Sonno in "firm". Even their regular felt less soft and sinky to me then the Tempurpedic, but I don't like soft and sinky. And the Sonno was significantly cheaper. What I don't like about the Coolmax outer on the Sonno is that it is not removable for washing. I vacuum the mattress and try to sun it in the summer, but it bums me out that I can't wash the coolmax thingy. I don't remember if the Tempurpedic had a removable cover. Next time, if I have more bucks and can test them in person, I might go for a latex foam mattress, where you can specify what type of cover you want.

trillium

Pat--
I like the ZGallerie bed, since headboard and footboard seem more resolved to each other, but the first bed has a softer, more romantic air (good or bad) which could also be captured by the ZGallerie bed with the proper kind of linens/bedding.

That was no help, was it??

robyn--
The recent post on Green Tree Design looks slightly promising:

Pat--
Good! Btw, I am totally unfamiliar with Costco.com's quality, but something about the photography on the foot board upholstery makes me *slightly* nervous. So if you prefer it, just make sure you are comfortable with their return policy.

i am about to move into a new apartment and the Mrs. and i want to lay down some carpet in the bedroom. we have been looking at Flor tiles and i am wondering: instead of covering an area of about 12' x 6' that would give a nice carpeted landing area around the kingsize bed, can i omit some tiles that will live underneath the bed? in other-words, instead of buying 30 tiles to cover 12x6, can i buy something like 15 or 20 tiles and essentially make a big "U" and not put tiles underneath the bed (where they would never be seen anyway?) i am wondering if the tiles will slide around like this or if it is doable?

thanks!

I posted this question a few weeks ago, but didn't get the response I was looking for. Here goes again...

I've been searching AT for information about wardrobes but have not been able to find anything. Our new apartment is 460 sq.ft. and has only one tiny closet. We need more than just an armoire for our storage needs. I've looked at the Pax units from IKEA, but this Triplo from BoConcept has really caught my eye.

Does anybody have any experience with it? Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated!

Pat,
Definitely like the Cara bed better than the one from Costco.

P2, thanks for the tip on Green Tea, but all of their tables are sort of wide -- one of the features I need is a long, skinny table to fit in the small space I have (I'm currently using a 13" wide bench as a coffee table). I'm going to ABC Carpet & Home warehouse in NJ this weekend to see if I can get lucky (finding a coffee table that is).

LouLou,

I watched the PBS episode with Andrea Zittel a little while ago and fell in love with her installations. Beyond art she has some stunning ideas with making the best out of small spaces, ie. the table/lounge/desk piece of furniture.

Oh yay! Someone who knows of her! When she first started, her ideas seemed so radical, but now when you see proposals for refugee shelters, her work seems quite topical.
I am also supremely intrigued by her "persoanl uniform" ideas...
I realized later that I posted in the NY thread, when her show is currently at the MOCA at the Geffen in LA, so I thought maybe I should post it there, too.
Thanks Mikael!
