Has anybody ever tried to spray-paint wooden blinds? We have wood Smith & Noble blinds that are structurally nice and were probably expensive (the previous owners bought them), but we've painted the room a darker color and now want white blinds. I was thinking of trying to spray-paint them white, but don't know if this would work. In particular, the strings are brown, and I would worry that they would get all sticky and wouldn't work anymore if we painted them. (There was a thread on AT a year or two ago about painting metal blinds, but I don't know if the issues are the same or not.) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone recently seen a fluffy, round black bath mat at a chain store or online seller? I thought finding one would be dead easy, but I've browsed eBay and every online store I can think of, including all the ones linked from the AT resources, with no luck. Even Target is relentlessly rectangular.

I have two questions for the group today:

1. GUEST BED Has anyone ordered the leather clubchair sleeper from Ballard Designs? I am curious about quality and or comfort. Want a guest bed, don't want a sofa size piece of furniture in the room.. I like the Continental Twin Sleeper & Ottoman:
http://www.ballarddesigns.com/jump.jsp?itemID=1645&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword=sleeper

2. PLAYLISTS-MP3 Lists I am looking for some good playlists. I saw that someone had recommended www.vanmega.com and I spent some time there finding exactly the kind of mp3 lists that I was looking for, and now I am hoping for more! I also looked over all the playlists that are on the site here from Enrique, etc.

Thanks!

Hi Wende,
Have a look at this. http://www.vitafutura.com/rugs/details.asp?fam=00058
I have no idea what this store is, but they do have a round black bath mat! Price seems a bit steep too...
I will keep searching for you :)

Thanks, Cat! The price seems more reasonable when you think of it as roughly three bath mats that I would buy, hate, and replace.

wende, i just came across this site not too long ago. the rugs come in many different shapes including round and half-round, but the round is...$80!!!

good luck! i went through this very same problem trying to find gray bath rugs and towels...people don't seem to like gray very much anymore!

Hey, the cross-posting tells me there may only be one answer -- $80 or say "heck with that" and see if a nice rectangular bit of fake zebra works.

What's going on here is a very square, very black-and-white bath (no photos until next week)... I could not resist the whimsy of Target's "Scenes of Paris" shower curtain (mostly for the 1950s-style drawings), and we're going to frame black-and-white photos of places we've actually been (just to confuse people)... so I'm having trouble envisioning anything other than black accessories.

IKEA, circles: not in their online catalog, but I'm sure I saw them in the store when I was there two months ago . . .

Our local IKEA has round Ringum rugs in bright colors, and it has rather flat round Saxan bath mats in everything but black (even though black is online). The textile section seems really small compared to other IKEAs.

Jenny in DC: you could remove the slats in the same manner you would use to shorten a wood blind and spray paint them. I have a feeling that cords and tapes would become too stiff if painted, unless you used a fabric paint. I'm not aware of sprayable fabric paints.

Wende--

Chiasso has round rugs, but alas, no black:

But didn't Flor just come out with a "circle in a square" pattern?
That might work.

P(too) -- The circle in a square turns out to be available only as a 3' x 6' rug, which I think is larger than the entire bathroom floor. But now I'm seriously tempted to do one square of Zooty Tooth in black and white. Very Chanel.

Hey Wende,
could you get a white one and dye it?

It sounds like a mess, but my mother-in-law dyed her bathroom curtains and shower curtain. Although i question her color choices (peach-bleh), it seemed to work pretty well. I don't have much experience myself, and maybe some materials don't take to the dye quite as well. But it could be a cheap experiment...
