Yesterday I found myself 3 stories up on a roof a bit too steep for comfort, cleaning gutters at over 100 degrees out (so read the indash temp)
I felt like I was in a frying pan...
and didn't want to splash any water on myself or the roof for fear of making it wet and sliding off.
The things I do for my parents...

Patrick--Again, many thanks for doing the groundwork to check out the zebrawood coffee tables. Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of my white coffee tables--and fast!
Topic-hopping... THE ROUND BED at IKEA! Has anyone else seen it in the new catalog? My first response was an audible "Oh, no they di'int." The piece ooks very cool in a Matt Helm-Barbarella-Modesty Blaise in a good way. Could make for a very decadent day-bed in a bachelor pad.

Not only have I seen the round bed, I've actually sat on it! It's quite comfy and supportive.
I am a survivor of the IKEA opening here in Dallas Wednesday and yes (hanging head, kicking dirt), I camped out overnight Tuesday. My mom and I were 26th in line. Our campsite was directly next to the IKEA employee entrance.
For being part of the first hundred customers in line, we got a free Poang chair, a $20 IKEA gift card, and all manner of IKEA-branded trinkets. And a lot of free bottled water. In order to combat the infamous Texas heat, IKEA filled pickup beds with ice and bottled water and handed it out constantly.
For me, the pinnacle of the experience was talking to a very kind, friendly blond woman with a slight Swedish accent. I told her how thrilling it was to get an IKEA, that I had written the company twice a year for 12 years. How I had heavily marketed the online petition to bring IKEA to Dallas. (IKEA said it was a factor that influenced their decision to open a store here.) That I really believe that IKEA's presence will fundamentally change how (ultra-traditional) Texans see, decorate, and live in their homes. And as she left for the night with a crowd of other IKEA people, I realized I had just been talking with Pernille Spiers-Lopez, President of IKEA North America. (!)
The round bed is really nice. Our store is beautiful. And I finally have an IKEA, with all its self-assembly frustrations and out-of-stock heartaches, within 25 minutes of home.
(MGR and others: I *know* it's high-carb furniture, but the design sensibility clinches it for me. IKEA definitely fills a void in the marketplace here.)
yes! the round ikea bed has hit us in the uk too!!! at last! i am proud to say within two weeks i shall be the owner of one. as soon as i saw it in ikea i jumped on it and snuggled down for a lovely sleep, (much to the disgust of the 'up their own assess ikea shoppers!!) its brill, cant wait to own one!

Hello,
Does anyone know what the white rounded spaceage / mod chest below the stereo in this e-bay auction is?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5796739670&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1
I tried asking the seller, but he doesn't know.
Secondly, have you seen anything else similar?
Thanks
-Taylor
