I have a question about uplights. I want to get some to put behind my couch to highlight art on the wall above the couch. has anyone done this and have recommendations for particular brands, models, watt bulbs to use etc?

Thanks!

I'd like some opinions on several modern neutral colored floor lamps I'm trying to decide between. My space is modern and very neutral in color with lots of beiges, browns and earthy tones. I'm looking for a lamp with more texture than color, but I'd like some opinions on these 3 and which is more suitable for the natural modern feel I'm going for... I've stared at them too long, now I can't decide!! Thanks!!

Sorry to ask this again but I didn't get any replies the first time and I desperately need your collective advice. What sconces should I put in my dining room which will have a white oval shaped Saarinen dining table and a le klint 172b. The room is painted red and will also have 2 large sort-of pop-art paintings in it. I was considering either of these but am open to suggestions, please. The room is 14' by 20'. It is a rental apt and the existing sconces are, of course, hideous!!!

Callie, I like the middle one best.
Want2bmod, I couldn't really tell much about the choices you linked but I saw a beautiful alabaster sconce at Home Depot yesterday that looked very elegant, it is elliptical with pointed ends and the light would look pretty through the alabaster. It was not expensive.

Congratulations to Janel for her appearance on this week's Time Out feature on space! And YES, the componobili unit is the best and coolest storage solution! Good choice!

As of Monday evening I have not been able to see any photos on the NY site. All the other sites of AT are fine. Maxwell told me I should delete all AT cookies which I did but it didn't help. Does anyone here have a suggestion as to how to fix this problem? It's a bummer when you can't see the photos. (text and ads are still visible).

Sorry about the test message -- very weird response from site when I tried to post...

ANYWAY -- Anne, what browser and OS do you use?

Since the "triple click to go back" problem is fairly widely known to be a glitch in how a site's coding is interpreted by IE, I'm wondering if your problem is also the result of a bad line of code that only affects certain browsers running in certain operating systems.

i've been searching for a great zebra rug and just saw one in a Julie Blackmon photograph that rocks. Can anyone place the source for the rug in this photograph? (and her photography is fabulous, btw).

Thanks. If you don't feel like looking at the link, can anyone suggest a cool zebra rug.

For a zebra (or at least animal print) rugs I'd check Williams-Sonoma Home, Ballard and Home Decorator's.

Am I banned????

I can no longer post any comments or vote in the contests under my regular screenname (ridge), and three emails to AT asking about it have been ignored. Can someone tell me if that's what's happening? Has this happened to you?

I can't for the life of me figure out how/why I WOULD be banned ... my comments in the color contest up until I got booted somehow were all nice.

thanks!

Hey ridge - this whole website has gone all wonky the past couple of days. Late last night I was clicking on links on the main color contest page, and some of them were linking to the wrong houses. Not to mention the still-unfixed triple-click thing and anne's photo-viewing problems. I am hoping that the AT staff are busily working on these issues :)

thanks polkadot - i think that's what i was thinking. my main concern was that it wouldn't shine high enough up the wall to highlight the art. guess i'll just have to play around with it.

Jal & Kate (NC),
Thanks so much for the feedback and advice; I really appreciate it. Especially since I realized my last link didn't work that well (here it is again in case anyone else wants to comment). thx!

Hi - I'm new here and looking for rug advice. I posted yesterday and unfortunately had no response so I'll try once more today. My wife and I have been working with ABC carpet to design a custom rug. It seemed to be going ok at first and the slsperson was very helpful picking out colors etc but it now has been 3 months and we still haven't seen the sample - technically 2 months late at this point. Anyway, we are concerned that if we actually like the sample that it could take forever for them to make and deliver the whole rug. So - any recommendations for other vendors in the NYC area would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

cb

cb, you may want to try The Rug Company on Wooster in Soho. They will do any of their rugs in any colors that you want at no extra charge. If you go thru a designer you can get 25% off.

Anne, I am using Mozilla and XP also. I am not having any problems at all. Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling Mozilla? I am also not having the three click problem since I switched from IE to Mozilla.

Anne, I don't know with the Mozilla suite, but Firefox has an option to not allow images from a specific website. Maybe you accidentally enabled it? In Firefox, it is Tools, Options, Content, "Load Images Automatically", and click on "Exceptions".

I've been messing around on the computer trying to fix the problem. I finally did a System Restore. I then reinstalled Mozilla (again). I went to IE to see if things were working properly there and I can see the AT:NY site just fine. But I still can see it with Mozilla Firefox. So there's something amiss with my MF. I'm still working on it.

Thanks for the responses.
