Oh countdown, you taunted me with your existence. Now you are suspiciously absent this morning. I knew not to rely on you. Just like a bad internet hookup - you just vanished.

I have a client with a beautifully restored chest of drawers, but the hardware is brass. Anyone know of anyone here in the city who can replate the knobs (assuming we can get them off)?
I could have sworn that a year or two ago Maxwell had said SOMEWHERE on here, that there was some tiny little place in this city where this one guy did that, but that you had to just show up because there was no phone and there was no computer to e-mail them and you had to knock 3 times and say some strange little password or you'd not only not get in, but be shot with poison blowdarts or something and the only thing left of you would be a chalk outline where your hand would appear to be shaped oddly, because of having been clutching desperately onto the morsel of hardware that you brought in hopes of having re-plated.
And then once you had gained entry, you had to be really, really nice to the guy or he'd put a fatwa on you and you'd never brunch in this town again.
Maybe I'm embellishing a tad, but it seemed to be some kind of not-all-that-simple operation.

You laugh, but the really good watch and clock repairman near me runs his business pretty much like that -- he's only open for customers at very specific, limited times, most of which are inconvenient for people who work during the day.

What are some good benches or ottomans? I am looking for an inexpensive alternative to the Knoll Bench and the Gus Ottomans.
