I need cute knobs for my Billy bookcase doors from IKEA. Where, online, can I find them?

I'm fixing up my bathroom and need help finding two things, a shower clock/timer (if it had a built in radio or something too that would be nice, but not necessary) and a GOOD fogless mirror. i have bought two cheap ones from target that work fine for like 6 months and then begin to fog up.

oh also what's the cheapest place to get ralph lauren and farrow & ball paints in NYC? or is it just standard pricing everywhere?

How ill-advised would it be to mount a shelf above my stove and put my conventional microwave on it (in the space left, apparently, for the over-the-range microwave that the previous owner didn't want to splurge on)? Bear in mind that I hardly ever cook--in my last apt. I covered two of the burners with enamel covers and kept a teapot on the third, and the remaining burner was all I ever needed. There's also a huge window next to the stove for venting, if that makes a difference.

My company manufactures fogless mirrors, and I hate to say, but even the best quality does not usually last more then a year. I'd stick with buying the cheapos.

do any of you have a favorite hand-held steamer? i am looking for a small one that can live on top of a shelf and doesn't take up floor space like those fancy industrial ones that sit on the floor. thank you for your help!

I followed the organizer’s advice and did the stacks of books first.

However, if the books are now all but gone (though I still have the files to do), then there must be a design related question.

The space in front of the big bookcase in the bedroom/home office is now clear. My intuition tells me to leave it that way, but, on the other hand, I feel that there should be some additional seating there – a long narrow bench, say, 12 x 30.

Any voices of reason out there?

zzzap - have you tried the prestone anti-fogging liquid available at most auto-shops? I've used it in the past and it works well.

Wow, impressive de-cluttering of books and boxes! (I struggle with both.)

I vote for leaving the space clear. Maybe at least try it that way for a month or so before you add anything.

That said, is there another spot in your place that you could kept a couple of rolling storage ottomans (under a table? foot of bed?) so that you could enjoy your clear space until you have guests?

So...when is the new AT roll-out coming? I decided to not be a beta-tester (as if I needed more distractions at work).

But now I'm insanely curious. What do people think? When will I get to see it?

JonathanB, I also vote for clear. Maybe at most a small storage ottomon, like a morroccan style pouf (can't remember the exact name) might look nice in your space.

I am looking for an inexpensive mirrored medicine cabinet and bathroom light fixture for a small (7x5 with tub) bathroom. I've been looking online, but am not how much these things should cost for quality fixtures. Do any of you have recommendations? Thanks!

does any1 know someone who can put together 3 pieces of wood and build me a table? a la the design style of the console runway table at cb2. it's almost perfect but a smidgen too narrow. i live in DC.

modernbath.com and u can shop by size. also i bought a new medicine cabinet at west elm on sale a month ago, works well in small space and only $79. see if they still have it on sale (comes in chocolate or white).

Cassis, I have a shelf with microwave above my stove. It does get greasy, so it's not the best solution, but it does the trick until I finally manage a complete remodel of my kitchen. I used a thick piece of wood on heavy brackets and gave it several coats of paint.

to keep ur bathroom mirror from getting foggy slather shaving cream on the mirrored surface and then wipe off. u'll never have a foggy mirror again.

Katedet, this is on the not-entirely-cheap side, but I found the best light fixture options for my very small bathroom on Rejuvenation.com.

I'm looking for a wall-mounted plug-in lamp with a very long, preferably adjustable neck. I don't even know if this exists. I desperately need light over the section of the kitchen counter that sticks out between the kitchen and living room. As it is now you can't work in that section of the kitchen, it's all in shadow, and this will not work when we have 3 cooks making Christmas dinner. There's no fixture above the counter and no way to hang a pendant without ugly cords all over the place. So my idea is to mount a lamp on the soffit above the counter, which is about a foot and a half from the center of the counter. Ideas? Of course it has to be affordable, by which I mean cheap. (This is a temporary solution until I can afford an electrician to put in a fixture, probably in a year or 2.) Thanks!

Most people seem to create flicker accounts, and then post on the open thread w/ specific questions and links to the appropriate pictures. You can also post the link to your flicker account in your profile. However, before you do that, you might want to wait a few days - I'm not sure, but I thought the new site design, which was to be unveiled soon, was supposed to have a way of displaying your pictures in your profile.
If you have a big question, you can email it to the editors (I can't remember the email address right now, but its around her somewhere...).
Also, before asking a question, use the search box at the top of the page to make sure it hasn't already been asked. If it hasn't, or if the answer was not satisfactory, then use the open thread to ask away!

Try Bellacor Lighting, Wall, Swing Arm and Plug-in. Lots to pick from.

But, how much of a difference in price do you predict this temporary solution to be, relative to hiring an electrician to install one relatively simple light. I say just bite the bullet. Less waste, too.
