I just acquired a terrific vintage mid-century chair off of Craigslist. The original vinyl upholstery has seen better days though - the piping has worn through on one arm, there are paint speckles on the other, the foam could be replaced, as could the wooden bar across the front of the chair (what is that called anyway?)
Should I leave it be in favor of vintage integrity, or should I reupholster the sucker?
FYI, it looks just like Room and Board's Grace chair, but in green vinyl.

Are IKEA Poang chairs comfortable enough to be reading chairs?

This isn't really APARTMENT therapy, but LIFE therapy ;-) but does anyone living in Queens county know how many days you are on telephone standby for jury duty? Is it 3 or 5 days? Or more? No one I know seems to remember and they don't list it anywhere on the summons or website. thanks!
Can anybody recommend a good carpet cleaning company in Manhattan. I have a 8x10 rug and I do not want to spend
a fortune cleaning it.

I love Poang chairs for reading, but you'll probably want to get the foot rest, too. Then it's cozy enough for snoozing!

There's a difference?!
Our home is our larger self - I challenge anyone to find a serial killer who had a neat clean apartment, or an artist who had a dull, boring, off-the-shelf home.
Not really relevant, just sharing!

I LOVE the poang chair for pretty much everything, reading, sleeping, tv, crochet...
Speaking of IKEA: I really like the Hemnes 8 drawer dresser (the longer, lower chest) in white. Does anyone have experience with this? Does it hold up well? I would hope since it's one of the more expensive IKEA bedroom pieces at $270, it would be more sturdy. If it's not a good choice, what would be something similar I could get in white that won't break the bank?

I have the long low 6 drawer Malm. When moving we accidentally banged it on several (many) walls and may have possibly dragged it across the place we bumped it too ;), and not a single boo boo is on it. For $180 or so, it's held up incredibly well for the amount of damage I could have done to it, and the drawers hold a ton and glide so easily.
I don't know how well the Hemnes holds up, but if my cheaper one can, I would hope a bigger pricetag means it is just as good if not way better than mine.

LOL @ LadyJ - well, depends on whether you consider a shrine full of human remains "messy," I s'pose!
And Shawn, if Bundy doesn't seem like slob, and I am - which of us would the passing visitor consider the worse LOL?
Inquiring minds, want to know! :o)
Can we please get comment notification on here, apt therapy admin heroes? Coz these made me smile, and I may have missed them if I'd not gone back this far from homepage.

And JH4285, I LOVE the grace chair ... you're so lucky. I would reupholster your vintage version and make it all snazzy and nice.
