I would love that.
I've thought before that would be great. Can you make it happen?
Along the lines of thread redesign, I think that your website should list the dates/times of any comments posted. It makes it easier when returning to a thread to figure out which are the new comments to read.
Ignoring the tech challenges for a minute (i don't even have a digital camera), I would love a palce to post a few pictures and share my challenges and even my success like the deep dark brown paint in my bedroom.
Keeping track of all the postings and hosting all those images sounds like a challenge but it sure would be great.
Also, I think when sites create b-boards and other interactive areas so often they die on the vine. People want to talk to each other, but they don't really want the chore of logging in, checking threads, catching up on tons of comments. I think part of what makes this site so successful is that Maxwell (and friends)are excellent moderators, and that the site is very linear.
One of the things I enjoyed about the closet contest was reading and talking to people about their closets. I'd love it if there was a way to get and share advice on here, but I don't know if a free-for-all is really the way to go.
Thanks for the good comments. I agree with Chris about BBoards. I think blogs and threads are the way to go. But We will just keep experimenting with blog threads and see how best to do it. Daily Kos is highly successful at it, and it is interesting to me that many of the other blogs, such as the Gawker and Gothamist sites really don't invite comments at all.
I see this site as ultimately being 1/2 front page content and 1/2 inside page (or comment) content.
As far as sending in photos of your apartment, Chris, send them in. We'll put them up.
ooo...I would love to see some of the ideas AT posted put into action- it would be especially interesting to see what people do with items they receive from the classifieds.
