We just got a tip on another organizing maven who has - thank god - a sense of humor.
Jeni Aron is The Clutter Cowgirl and a "true Virgo." She is ready to wrangle your home into shape. She covers closet weeding, paper trails, making things pretty, moving you in and out as well as general home organization. AND if you are a couple who are having trouble sorting out how to get both of your belongings into one new space, Jeni will wrangle you both into perfect harmony as well...
Laura says: I personally don't like ANYONE, including my boyfriend of 4 years, going near ANY of my "STUFF" but Jeni's easy-going, non-judgemental style had me at ease in minutes. I was actually having FUN at one point during our session!! Amazing, considering that moments before she arrived I was praying to God, she'd have to cancel so I wouldn't have to do through all of that crap. HIGHLY recommended!!
(Thanks, Laura!)

As someone with many Virgos guiding me through life's decisions and helping me attain personal order, I love that Jeni plays on her personality to promote her service. She could really beef up that website with more before/after photos and testimonials...who doesn't love that stuff?
I have tried emailing Jeni twice (once last year after AT first posted about her and again after this new post) and I've not gotten a response either time. I don't mind picking up the phone, but I really prefer an initial contact to be via email as that is my primary means of communication on a daily basis and it allows for getting the nuts and bolts out of the way. It bothers me that an email inquiry goes ignored. I have my own business as well and 80% of my new business comes from email inquiries off my website. I suspect badly managed spam filtering on her end - regardless, it's business lost and I doubt I am the only one.
When I emailed her about a consultation she insisted on an addition $50 or $75 or whatever because i dont live in Manhattan, which is just ridiculous.
I guess she doesnt need a lot of clients ...
Hi MM,
Thanks for your interest in my services. I'm sorry you were mislead by the $50 quote as posted on Apartment Therapy but that was from 2004-2005 and my prices have increased since then.
My rate varies depending on the function of the job, the intensity level of the project and my travel time (Long Island Rail Road, etc). I do not give free in-person consultations but I do give free phone consultations to potential clients. Just as a barometer: most professional organizers based in Manhattan charge $100 and up per hour.
Laurie, I know it's been a long time but I apologize for not getting back to you. Feel free to contact me again and I will be sure to get in touch. Even the Clutter Cowgirl can make a mistake every now and then!
Why is this being posted for the third time?

Sorry, but based on the web site I wouldn't think twice about hiring you [jen]. You need better before and after pictures and your "about" link doesn't work. The site looks "home-made", not professional.

God, I must be the messiest ADD-stricken Virgo slob on the planet.

Doesn't the phrase "I wouldn't think twice" usually mean exactly the opposite of how you used it?

Hmm, P(too),
looks like "I wouldn't think twice" may be threatening to go the way of "I couldn't care less." (Although in the first example, it looks like it's starting to mean the opposite of what it used to. While in the second case, the phrase is oddly supposed still to mean the same thing, even though everyone now is dropping the negation.)
Oh well, I could care less. ;)

As one of Jeni's former clients I can do nothing but rave about her professionalism, skills, warmth and great sense of humor. She helped me gain perspective on my overwhelming clutter problem by addressing its core. I am now able to maintain organization of my home/office by using the systems we created together.
I highly recommend her services to anyone who cares about quality and personal connection.

I'm a bit dismayed by some of the previous comments. I happen to be a card carrying Virgo myself, however my partner is not. He's a mess. Jen came to the rescue and helped him get his act together, organizing papers, photos and related material following his mother's death. Jen did a bang up job. She was a joy to work with (so my partner says) and worth every penny (that's me saying so!).
So for anyone distracted by her website (which is perfectly fine, by the way) take my word for it. Jen's reliable, absolutley professional and a great resource. I'd hire her again in a second (and probably will).
