When I moved to Manhattan, I had to downsize. I had so much clutter I did not know where to begin. I contacted Maeve Richmond of "Get Your House in Order." She was wonderful to work with! She is very pleasant and teaches you a system to maintain the wonderful clutter-free area on your own. I worked with her first on a closet, then called her back to help with the kitchen and the living room. Working with her has completely transformed my apartment!
I highly, highly recommend Get Your House in Order!
My wife and I recently contacted Maeve Richmond through her posting on Apartment Therapy. We're expecting our first child in a few months, and we're loathe to give up our beautiful apartment in the East Village. Problem is, it's a smallish one-bedroom, and after weeks of staring at the walls trying to figure out how to squeeze in a baby and all of the requisite gear, we decided it was time to call in a professional.
Maeve was great. She is a thoughtful and warm person, and within a matter of minutes she "got" us and figured out what we were trying to do, even though we ourselves weren't able to articulate it very well. She helped us see our space in a new light and came up with some really creative ways to reorganize the apartment that have given us the extra square footage we needed without sacrificing charm and aesthetics. I even got to keep the love seat I was sure we were going to have to get rid of!
When it's time to get a dog, we'll certainly be calling Maeve again.
If you are on this site, and you get the whole notion of 'therapy' than Maeve Richmond is the professional organizer for you! She came to my apartment, met with me to discuss my organizational 'issues' and then got down to business -- literally rolling up her sleeves and working alongside with me to teach me the basics of organization and to help me put systems in place tailored to my own needs, space and organizational abilities (however few...). I highly recommend her for anyone who is intimidated by organization or natuarlly challeneged in that area!
