I absolutely loved it and was already visualizing what corner of my apartment I would use it in until I saw the price. Ouch.

I thought they were more cat stairs.

That's a ridiculous price for such a simple DIY.

Double-Ditto!

Great idea, but the price is out of sight.

I could make that for less than $10.00!!! It's a really sweet bookshelf thought. It just gives me an idea to go and make one now! :) I would paint each wood piece and shelf with different bright colors!

The price is really out there, but it is totally cool. I am not so sure how easy a DIY it is. I would get confused which pieces need to be flat on the wall, etc. Then again, I failed calculus twice in college...

This one is almost identicle a a fraction of the cost: http://www.everythingfurniture.com/linea-provo-wall-shelf-1.html?utm_campaign=Froogle&utm_medium=Comparison&utm_source=Froogle_EF&utm_term=LINEA-RS600-INT

And here is a hand made smaller version is a great blue color: http://www.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1044617 and its even cheaper. Neither the concept nor the execution warrant the high price. Sorry.

I understand the sticker shock!- I couldn't afford it either. It is a well designed piece though. Compare those cheaper versions - Feeney's is obviously better made - no seams, nicer design, and flawless lacquer finish. The woman who says she can make this for $10 should send a picture of her resulting shelf and let us compare. good work takes time.
respect!

I've seen similar shelving before, but not with that outrageous price tag! Are they made of gold?? Good Grief!

@craftman: Its absolutely better made but its not 900 dollars better made, not even close. I mean you could get one of the cheaper versions have it stripped and professionally painted and it would still be a fraction of what they are charging for this. This piece totally over priced.

I really appreciate the links to less expensive alternatives, posted by other viewers... You know, for those of us who're all thumbs, but without the wallet to make up for it.

Here's one sold on Amazon for $35: http://www.amazon.com/Corner-Spacesaver-Bookcase-%252d-Cherry/dp/B0006TXDVS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1248618454&sr=8-1

It may not be a craftsman's piece but as it's actually affordable.

i love the concept, but too much money. usually i can justify stuff like this, apparently lacquer = $$$$.

Little update, I did not take part in the previous discussion, but was inspired by this shelf. My husband recently made one for us:
