I have one of these. The chalkboard itself isn't great, but the whole setup is certainly worth $15.

I have this and I use it as my landing strip. It's pretty handy - I tuck my bills and outgoing mail in the bins under the chalk trays so I remember them when I walk out the door.

Pottery Barn has a nice magnetic chalk board that's similar in concept, but the price isn't so nice.
