Ceramic Stools at Treillage Ltd.

We learned about these ceramic tables in Elle Decor. They're sold locally at Treillage Ltd. for $375 each.

The glazed ceramic finish comes in lots of colors and the ornamental carving would really enrich even a minimalist space. We could see using these outdoors or in.

Here's what Treillage has to say about them:
Porcelain and ceramic garden stools from China make a wonderful addition to any garden or interior as end tables or are great to pull up for extra seating when you’re entertaining.

Various versions of these pop up in pretty much every magazine layout, it seems.

I was in Pier One the other day (a desperate quest for a patio table was sending me into every single store I saw) and spotted this one, which I really loved actually. Online it doesn't look great; the accent color stands out too much, but the color in person was really rich. But I walked away, full of Pier One snobbery. Too bad it's made of MDF instead of ceramic--if it weren't I might swallow my pride and get one for my new grey living room.

You can find these same stools (or at least very similar ones) for about a third the price from eBay seller DestinAsian:

I recently bought one in lime green. It arrived within days and is just lovely.

All the best,

Leah

I just bought a white one, originally for my bathroom to use as a table by my tub, but it looks so great I may have to move it to the living room. I remember you used to be able to buy these at those giant outlet stores for $20 or so. Wish those outlet stores were still around

I love these too, but can anyone explain why they are so expensive?

joser--
What price would you consider fair? Just, honestly, curious.

And Leah, while you can indeed get them cheaper online, I find the unique character of the glaze on each to make me want to see the exact one, in person, before I'd by.

There's a great store in DUMBO, an import store (lord only knows where I put their card!) - one of the first streets running perpendicular to the river, only a block or two up from it in a warehouse space - that was chock full of awesome Asian imports at really good prices.

West Elm has a similar type of thing - a Moroccan ceramic stool - their site is temporarily down right now so I can't look it up, but I believe it was under $200.

Patrick-- good question. A design-y chair/stool under $70 I would consider a good deal.

I found several at HomeGoods in NC ... Identical to the blue above, but in very pale green. It's beautiful. FOR $49. I was so excited. They also had gold and silver. No thanks.
