Resin D'etre. Frank Gehry: like. Resin outdoor furniture: don't like. So we're on the fence about these interesting new shapes that claim to be: "A spectacular group of three cubes, a bench, an easy chair, a coffee table / sitting unit, and a sofa, in silver resin."
Starting at $200 apiece, they come in a host of Pantone colors and are manufactured by Heller. (via MoCoLoco) MGR
Consider me horrified. These look just as uninviting as his buildings.

One Trick Gehry just whacked off bits of the twisted wreckage that is his design "language" to sit by the pool. Anybody who wants a design ala can opener would do well to get these instead. At least these can be replaced easily. Move on Frank.

Sometimes its not about how invitng a piece of furniture is, it's about the designer's expression, obviously you people don't know anything about design. You don't become a cutting edge designer by doing what everyone else does, remember that. Also, it's not like these pieces of furniture are so outrageously priced either.

I want to know where to buy these. As a visual statement I think they'd be dynamic to live with. anyone know of a retailer?

I find some elements more successful than others though I am intrigued by most of them. I find this collection fairly strong even though I am rarely attracted to Gehry's work over all. I would use them strategically in groups of three or five. They would make a nice addition to a natural landscape.

I just bought the easy chair for my deck. It was between the Starck Bubble Club easy chair and this one. Having just toured Disney Hall last week, I decided to go Gehry. I didn't opt for any of the cubes -- I thought it might look "too too" with several pieces. The sofa is the best piece of all, but my deck is not appropriate for a piece of that size. Maybe I need a new house :-)
