I can only moan in longing. Why couldn't they open that in Portland?? Not that I haven't already bought way too many trees and other plants. Wait, you can never have enough plants.

If they get it right...they will be the first. I spent a year back in 2000 on a similar concept for Burpee Seed Company. Four stores later we went bankrupt.
I wish them luck.

We went last weekend. Conveniently it is only 20 minutes from our house and I use to shop there when it was just Styers a good old fashioned nursery. It is really beautifull! I was only there for about 45 minutes because I had baby and husband in tow. I didn't see any pictures from Joy's blog but there are beautiful fences surrounding the site made from old branches. The plant selection is less than when it was a more full service nursery but it was very impressive how all of the perennials were in full bloom. I can't imagine that they can keep that up but it looked great. However there were some plants that weren't suitable for our zone 6b/7a climate. A great place to admire the beautiful design and plants but not so much to buy. Although I will say they had a nice selection of modern style planters that are normally hard to come by.

real gardeners dont buy into this type of gentrification, that's why we garden in the first place, to get AWAY from consumerism, especially trendy " i drove my gas guzzler s.u.v. to the ritzy garden store to save the planet and my soul". everybody start saving your own seeds and reusing your own twine.

Bummer! And here I was, thinking it was the Styer's by my house. Still close, but not close enough to stop by after work.
