Floating House. The Bouroullec brothers' Maison Flottante was all over the blogs last fall when it was completed and sailed down the Siene to its home near Maison Fournaise. In the recent New York Times Sunday Magazine, the story Water Shed features the gorgeous photo by Jens Liebchen and a run down on Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec's work for Centre National de lEstampe et de lArt Imprim, or Cneai...

There are some really nice boat houses. I used to live in Amsterdam for 8 years, and I saw some beautiful boat houses -- small, but elegantly appointed. I wish more US cities were more welcoming to the concept.

I would give anything to live in that. I fell in love with various modernist houseboats when I visited the Netherlands a few years back, and think NYC and other river cities should give them a try.
