Do you think you could place wood tiles like the ones shown in the photo on top of a roof, as a deck?

Hullballumallu - you could do it, if you got permission and if it is allowed by the dept of building. Sometimes you are not allowed to lay wood on a terrace if the house next door is a certain distance from you. It is a fire hazard I was told.

This is the best transformation of a high rise balcony I've seen. Very impressive and Very cozy. How did you plant the grass in between the tiles?

Just ordered my wood tiles a couple of days ago!! Cannot wait to get them! I am going to have some spare tiles that I am going to use as a runner in my bathroom. I hope it looks good.

Ok, someone please point me in the right direction to start getting educated about the tiles I'm seeing so much of lately. The first time I saw them was in the post with the pretty blue bistro table and chairs and the cats that are dead ringers for mine, and in the week or so since I'm seeing them everywhere here. And liking them.

This is great, and I love how you have grass growing thru some spaces, while other spaces have rocks. Very inspirational - thanks!!

Thanks for the comments.

A little back story on these tiles - I bought the redwood floor tiles 2 yrs. ago. I didn't get enough and I ran out of money so I decided to wait until the following spring to buy the rest. By that time they were discontinued so I tried to come up with an alternate solution. I finally decided to buy "similar" tiles and use them as a border. I still had gaps so I filled those with fake grass and rocks.

Really nice and cozy! If you don't mind me asking, where did you find that wicker lounge chair next to the fountain? - I've been looking for something similar for my balcony.

I got the chair from Pier 1 about 4 yrs. ago. I'm pretty sure they don't have them anymore.

Cosmo, I happen to have that exact chair in storage. As I remember it is in excellent condition. If you live in the NY area, I'd be happy to sell it to you.

Thanks Anne!

Michele766 - I'd love to purchase it from you, but I live in Washington DC (Capitol Hill) - It would probably be pretty expensive for me to pay to have it shipped down, but I have family in NY so let me see if they could pick it up for me - I'll get back with you.

OK Cosmo. I'm new here, so I don't know if there's a way to PM other members. If there is a way to contact you let me know. Otherwise I'll keep checking this thread.
