Outdoor Living At...?

A recent day outdoors was spent at the location pictured above. Anyone have any idea where this could be? Here's a second photo hint...

This photo is just steps away, looking in the opposite direction. That's the incredible contrast experienced on a short trip to Governor's Island. Look one way, and you're in a small rural town. Simply turn around and you're at the base of the Manhattan skyline.

The island opened to visitors for the summer on June 2 and is open for self-guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays until September. Access is complety free, including the ferry, which can be caught at the Battery Maritime Building.

The first picture reminded me of the tree with the stone stacked wall at the end of Shawshank Redemption... It is such a symbol of freedom...
But anyway, this is a great getaway for New Yorkers. One can pack a picnic and spend the whole Sunday there amongst trees and surrounded by water.

GREAT tip.

My husband and I spent a Sunday on Governor's Island a couple of years ago. It's beautiful and serene, and a little creepy. Like something from a sci-fi movie where an entire population disappears in an instant.

Fool, I got it from the first pic.

Enjoy GI while you can. It may not stay the same way for long.

Does that brick wall count as a "ha-ha"? And is it at Governor's Island?
