0610_swing06.jpgPenobscot Bay Porch Swings specializes in making heavy canvas swings/hammocks for the outdoors. Based upon a style from turn-of-the-century New England camps and summer cottages (pictured in the last image above), these modern versions come in bright summertime hues and clean-lined forms...

Available in four different high backed and no-backed versions, these swings would make such a nice addition to a modern front porch. If you're in the area, you can check out Penobscot Bay Porch Swings in their showroom (by appointment or by chance). Otherwise, check out their website for more on available swing styles, pricing, and shopping.

Those look super comfortable to lounge in with a glass of wine or even a beer on a lazy Saturday evening!

That last photo troubles me. The others all look crisp, fresh, structured.... the last looks like it's been beat all to hell. Makes me wonder if these swings look crisp for a year--and then cave in, crumple, look junky and disheveled after that. I mean, that last photo looks like the thing's going to plop out its bottom if someone bigger than a preschooler sits in the middle of it! Anybody have experience with this product line who can speak to its durability?

ljbmonkey - The last photo is of a swing that dates back the 1930's, which looks pretty good considering it is 80 years old! This is the type of classic swing that inspired Penobscot Bay Porch Swings' modern versions.
