Your walls will come to life. Decorative painting doesn't usually get us excited, but when we saw De•kar's portfolio we were impressed. Alright, their jobs were high end and no one was skimping on the paint, but the subtle textures and the simplicity of their patterns were refreshing and downright cool.

The conflation of founders Caroline Grant and Dolores Suarez's first names (reverse order), De•kar is six years old and taking on walls all over town. In fact, their walls have attracted such notice that besides working for Bilhuber, Alexa Hampton, and Studio Sofield, they have been picked up to do interiors for such notable clients as the Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden last year. During their downtimes they are styling parties in NYC, the Hamptons, Miami and Los Angeles with thematic lighting, flower arrangements and fabric panels.

Don't let it scare you off. If you really want to do something more interesting than painting your walls, it won't break the bank to do one room (or one wall).
