12-18-dow.jpgEven though wallpaper is the rage, it ain't easy to find someone who still knows how to hang it. Enter Dow + Company. Run by Dow Kowalczyk, Dow + Co. is a hip, young company that started off painting and now specialize in wallpaper.

We've heard good things about them, including that they are expensive but worth it. One client used them to hang wallpaper on an accent wall and they not only did a beautiful job, they handled all sorts of wall repairs and painting needs as well. They are smart and skilled, so you may not want to let them go.

I recently had Dow and Co. paper my powder room and an accent wall in my nursery. It could not have been a better experience. I had purchased very old, vintage wallpaper with a busy design from Ebay and Dow new exactly how to work with it. The powder room was tricky because of it's small size and because the paper required extra attention. It came out beautiful! The paper in the nursery is a heavy grass cloth and Dow again did a wonderful job, even plastering part of the wall to even it out, ensuring that the paper would sit flat . Dow's prices are very fair and I hope to have more wallpaper projects for him in the future!

I recently hired Dow to wallpaper my guest bath. He was very meticulous: the paper looks great, he left my apartment in the exact condition he found it, and he even offered to stop by and touch the job up if the edges lifted due to excessive showering! Plus he was very good with communication, extremely reliable, etc.

Dow & Company painted our entire apartment this summer, and did a terrific job. It hadn't been painted in a long time, and there was a great deal of prep work and repairs to be done, all of which now looks immaculate. They were meticulous, professional, and cleaned up after themselves meticulously. There was an issue with a sticking door afterwards, which they remedied immediately and without attitude. Definitely in the "worth the money" category.

Dow came with Nathan to wallpaper two rooms in our home two weeks ago. And make them look spectacular! They both are meticulous workers. Our Cole Son and Designers Guild wallpapers look fantastic. I would recommend them highly, they are neat, efficient and brilliant at their work. Dow tells you how much its going to be and thats the final amount. I would definately call them again - once we've chosen the next wallpaper for the other apartment rooms. We love their work!

Dow & Company just completed wallpapering a wall in my nursery. This wallpaper is vintage (may have been printed in the 1940's), very fragile, and printed unevenly.

Watching Dow & Co. in action made me realize how labor intensive this job actually, was and how methodical one must be to put up special wallpaper. His price is well worth the effort and care he puts into his work. I secretly thought that this wallpaper would be impossible to put up and here's why.....

Before Dow, I had another company take a stab at it (although this company warned me that they do not usually work with VINTAGE wallpaper). He quit after trying to apply two rows of it, thus wasting part of my two rolls. He just couldn't handle how delicate it was....and did not know how to work with it properly. This company was half the price that Dow quoted me, but in the long run, i had to pay them $70 for the work, was out the wallpaper wasted, and had to scrape up what was improperly put up.

Dow & Company is expert at what they do. I highly recommend.

After deliberating for over a year, I FINALLY picked wallpaper for an accent wall in our new apartment. It was a big and expensive decision but I could not be more thrilled with the outcome. If we can find our camera (the toddler of the house has discovered the joy of hiding things!), I will post a photo so that you can see what a beautiful job Dow and his associate, Nathan, did for us yesterday. Despite the snowstorm, they were right on time, worked efficiently and were really pleasant to have around for the day. The paper is a hand-printed grasscloth which is not easy to hang or to line up perfectly at the seams but Dow and Nathan made easy work of it. We've had a lot of work done (kitchen remodeling, walls moved, floors redone, painting, repairs, you name it) and this is the first time I've told someone that they can use me as a reference. Dow & Co. is terrific and I highly recommend.

Dow and Company just came to hang a grey Philip Jeffries Ltd grasscloth wallpaper down our hallway. It took three days. The hallway looks fantastic. They were very meticulous and thorough with their work.
Wallpapering is an art. Dow has now wallpapered three of the areas in our home, we're hoping to add more textures and colors soon! We love Dow's wallpapering crew.

We also used Dow and Company. I only wish we'd had as good an experience as others on this forum.
He and his crew were consistently late, which really held us up. Maybe we should have seen this coming considering Dow was late when keeping our appointment for the initial estimate. His prices seemed on the high side, but he was a good talker, very smooth, and had received glowing reviews on this forum.
The overall quality of the work was just okay. Didn't seem worth prices this high and the aggravation and inconvenience of me or my wife having to wait around for him or his team to arrive each and every day of the job. We have more paper to hang this spring, and plan to try someone else.
