Before & After: Retro Stool

stoolsrobyn2.jpg

With the holidays finally over, there might be a little time to complete that DIY project you've been planning. AT reader Robyn sent us an email detailing a recent furniture make-over. Robyn decided to spruce up this forgotten stool at her family's summer home. It just goes to show that a little paint and fabric can go a long way! Thanks for sharing Robyn!

First, Robyn assembled all of tools. She purchased black Rust Coat spray paint for $3.99, and found upholstery fabric that she loved at a local fabric store for $27/meter. The foam upholstery cushions she had on hand.

Robyn used the previous stool cover to make a new pattern. Here she is, hard at work sewing the cushion. (For those of use who don't sew, you can drop off your cushion and fabric at your local dry cleaner.)

Cute! Is the base plastic or metal? I would think the paint would chip really fast off plastic.

AWesome! I love a good reupholstery job. And there is no greater satisfaction than doing it yourself!

I love the new fabric, but I would've left it white.

The mod base traditional upholstery is too much of a clash for me.

Love the cushion, would have also kept it white but it's still great!
