Here, we see three painting projects that make the Frosta stool into something of their owners' own creations:
First, from Door Sixteen, a few steps were taken to bring the Frosta a bit closer to its predecessor. Four legs were converted to three and the top of the stool was painted with two coats of black semi-gloss. The result is similar to a laminated iteration of Aalto's original.
Next is a full-on paint job in a vibrant red. Via IKEA Hacker, a reader named Eve decopatched her Frosta. Decopatching is kind of like decoupage - read more on it here.
Lastly, a graphic is painted onto the seat of a Frosta stool at HGTV.
Have you customized a Frosta stool before? Or do you have a temptation to do so? What did/would you do?
I like the first one a lot, I have a couple around I might do that to. What's up with the back leg though? Is it twisted?

I removed the 4th leg as well but haven't done any painting. Instructions here: http://marthaandtom.com/2009/05/ikeas-frosta-stool-revised/

Four legs to three and ten coats of white spray paint on top made it an entirely different table, with total time commitment of about 30 minutes.

That second stool looks like it has a disease, but the others are pretty nice upgrades.
