Decoradar Releases "South"

6-3_deco1.jpgDept. of DIY. While we have viewed Decoradar's approach to interior design with some skepticism because their aesthetic seems too far out of the box for anyone we know, we think their new kit is a great idea.

Drawing from what they like to do best - decorating walls in a whimsical and often fantastic fashion with mixed media - they have put together a kit to allow you or your kids to do it yourself.

6_3_deco2.jpgThe pitch: “SOUTH” comes with three-dimensional oranges and all the elements—brush, paint, dropcloth, etc.—needed to paint a stylized orange grove in your home. Packaged in a hand-screened travel box, SOUTH is a wonderful way to bring some Florida sunshine into your space.

Available through their website for $79. And YES, North, East and West are coming soon. MGR

Wow.

Do they include Category Four hurricanes?

Um, like no orange trees this Florida native has ever seen, but the idea is kinda cool. Screams "nursery" or "Pediatrics Ward Waiting Room", a little, though.

And, I'm no psychic, but I'm guessing East will be quite similar, but with apple stick-ons. ;)

I like how this is packaged - the idea is the most valuable portion of this product. Otherwise, I think you could undertake this project for $20.00. I am not trying to be negative, I am just frugal...

Also, Wholefoods at 14th Street has apples on the wall. As we were getting groceries, we joked about if they were real and were told by the cashier tha they WERE. She then told us tha the apples had been coated to preserve them. HAs anyone ever heard of something that you could coat an apple with - and the apple never decays??

Why can't I type 'that'?

Matt, I just thought it was a speech impediment. But I agree with you, you're paying for the packaging and concept. But I do like that tin...

These are super-fantastically tacky. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't pay 8 bucks for those trees, much less 80!

i don't think they're tacky at all. a bit childlike and kitschy, but used in the right application, could be wonderfully imaginative and fun. would esp bring a lot of fun to a children's ward in a hospital or a children's room. cool art project idea. but yes, a bit pricey.
