Eclipse Wall Paint

eclipse.jpgWe have the paint to beat all paint. Can't decide on a color? How about a paint that changes color all the time?

Eclipse Wall Paint is a new product of ALSA Corp. God knows what is in it, but it starts at a dark color and brightens up into bright whites or blues when touched or heated up in any way.

In case you want to get really crazy with this stuff, it can come with other visual effects called CrystalFX, SpectraFX or Funky Munkey. Check out What happens when you put your face against the wall. Here's another review from Cosmos Magazine. Available for $349 a gallon. (Thanks, Jill & Mary - via Mavromatic.com)

Gnarly! Like a Hypercolor shirt for your wall. Like, totally radical!

Why?

Wow. That would be VERY VERY much fun, even by itself, but if you used that and did sort of a damask patten over it, and then it would like some kind of wild satin. That would be amazing. However, you would really, really have to be careful which other colors you put it with, so they the other things looked good with EVERY shade that dwelt within each paint.

it seems oddly pretentious and unnecessarily creepy.

That could be fun in a kids room on a door or something, where handprints could change the color, etc.

Did anyone ever help cRYSTAL?

I think my reservation about it might be that if it got a lot of handprints, they would permanently show, but it would be very fun to experiment with.

if i remember the Hypercolor t-shirt craze well, half the time the Hypercolor technology totally didn't work. even the ones that did work would settle into this grungy mottled look after a few washes.

unless the technology has improved in the 10-15 years since the t-shirts came out, i'm guessing the Eclipse wall paint thing won't last long.

Three hundred and forty nine dollars a gallon?

Those hypercolor shirts showed off 13 year old sweaty armpits every day in junior high school. I wonder what embarrassing house happenings would come to light with this paint? What if my walls sweat in unsightly places??

i'm guessing it would show every point of human contact. you know those smudges that show up around lightbulbs and doorknobs? multiply that times every single time you touch the wall.

Why am I so attracted to this paint? Did I somehow know it was going to be ridiculously expensive, $349.00, before I go to the price?

I always pick the most ubsurdly expensive piece of furniture in a store to fall in love with, I guess the paint shouldn't be any different.

Or it could be I'm drawn to the Cheese factor.

Though, I must admit, if the paint doesn't eventually change BACK to the original color, I lose completely interest.

I can only imagine how much fun my son would have with this paint...

I wonder if it is sensitive enough to pick up water pipes and duct work.

Hmm....sounds pretty cool. I,ll probably purchase a gallon by next month for my apartment and end up paying my rent two months from then
