Dear AT,
I am closing on my very first townhouse in a few weeks and I'd like to paint the living room navy blue and the kitchen yellow.
I love the KWID's Imperial Trellis wallpaper, but it isn't very budget friendly.
I'd either leave the cabinets white or paint them cream.
All of the appliances are fairly new and so I won't be replacing them with stainless steel appliances so unfortunately they'll have to stay white!...

What kind of yellow should I use for the walls and cabinets that would match with the vibrant blue living room?
As a side note I think I'll later upgrade the counter tops from the faux wood laminate to a white carrera marble or black granite for that strong contrast I love.
I also would like to change the back splash tiles to the Solistone Piano tiles.
Please help!
Thanks! Tasha
OMG I have the perfect yellow for you... Benjamin Moore "Ambiance" (I think it's an Aura color). It's a delicate yet sturdy yellow with warm undertones. Not too heavy handed, would brighten up the room perfectly and make your floors sing.

I have a similar issue. I posted a while back and here is an update.

I would suggest a creamy, pale, yellow with green undertones. It goes with so many different palettes, as you can see in the link.
Avoid anything that is to blendy with the gold in the hardwood floor.

Thanks for the tips so far!
Any suggestion on what I should do with the cabinets? Leave them white?

If I hadn't seen an all-yellow apartment with my own eyes I might have thought "yellow? really?" but a nice, subdued sunshiny yellow (like the one described in the first post) is like a miracle for an apartment, especially if you have limited sources of natural light. It will seem big, bright, airy...awesome.
Yellow and blue are easy to match...I would be more focused on getting a yellow that isn't too intense...strong yellows are psychologically linked to irritation, eye strain, and are the colour that provide the highest natural contrast (darker things will look darker, and everything else will seem slightly bluer). You can also see the most shades (technically called "values") of yellow as well, so even near-white yellow is perceptible.
Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out great!
p.s. - If you have anything pink or purple in that place it's gonna look like Easter, so heads up! ;)

Navy blue and yellow are the colors of Blockbuster. That's all it would make me think of.

If I use yellow for my place, I will use BM SUNDANCE 2022-50.
Some interior designer (or decortor) raved about the color in house beautiful magazine.
I don't think black granite is impossible to keep it clean.
