I have a shower head that looks like the above, but does NOT dump a lot of water. And there is water in there. I've seen it without the shower head. Must be a governing device in there. Any help on how I can get it out?
does anyone have information about shower heads that do dump a lot of water on you and whether or not you need special plumbing to take the water away. does too much water fall down too fast for the ordinary drain to accomadate this showerhead?
Thomasina, your problem could be one of two things:
1. Pipe behind the wall that feeds the showerhead is too small. Standard is 1/2" diameter but to get best flow you 3/4" which is a custom job.
2. Flow restrictor in the shower head. You can unscrew the shower head from the main assembly and you will see a white disk with a little slot of hole in the middle where your water comes out. You can remove this disk and get much better flow but then you would be removing a required by code restrictor that is there to save water.
Lorraine, you will have no drainage issues. You do not need any special drains.
