We've had a few posts covering design-conscious exercise equipment (Antonio Citterio's Kinesis Personal and Ionic Column Dumbbells). While these examples were either extravagant or silly, the Sports Furniture Collection from designers Florian Hauswirth and Thomas Walde (part of the Swiss design collective, PostFossil) sticks to simple design that looks good...
Sports Furniture straddles the line between fitness equipment and decor. The designers use traditional materials and design products that serve a dual purpose: the chin-up bar is also a place to hang clothes, the felt and leather yoga mat doubles as a rug, and the oak bench is attractive enough for the living room. (the designers lost us on the jump-rope and cup, though) Via: Freshome.
The cup must be just a pretty dumbell. Another reason not to drop it on your toe...

This is silly.

"the chin-up bar is also a place to hang clothes"
Right, because as thousands of treadmill owners can confirm, hanging clothes all over your exercise equipment is a great way to ensure you get your workout time in!

The first thing I thought when I saw it: I want it as a garment rack. Much nicer than those utilitarian metal ones.
They should just use the pull-up suggestion as a way to imply that it can handle the weight and is sturdy.

Being able to do chin-ups in an apt. or even a house without building something to support weight seems like a dream come true. And it is nicer than hanging your clothes on a treadmill or a tubular metal rack, or a curtain rod like one of my neighbors up the street has done. If I needed it, if I had to have it or something to serve its purpose, this looks like something I would get. Sculptural and also handy. Not offensively obvious what it is or isn't being used for. Can be leaned around a piece of furniture or a doorway.

I love the chin-up bar.
Now if only there were information like how to purchase and at what cost.
