not a fan of high priced cat stuff, but gotta say I like these.

i have the sweet lounge cat bed and the cheeky chaise. haven't even opened the chaise yet, but the sweet lounge is a big hit. my female cat likes to lounge on it (something she never does with any bed i've ever bought her), and we use it to play, too, as those openings are big enough for me to fit my hand into and wiggle my fingers at the cat on the other side, who then pounces & tries to 'catch' me. pricey, yes, but i finally found something that my cats actually like.
props to marmalade pets, too. they sent the order out in a very timely fashion. no hassles.

My cat would be on these instantly and would never get off. I'm wondering how these can last 3-4 years--I guess it's because they're so thick? If they really lasted that long, they might actually be somewhat cost effective, since I'm lucky if my one cat's flat scratcher lasts a couple of months before I flip it over. I just did that and the used side was literally shredded to bits. The shreds get all over the place... I wonder if the expanded surface area on these scratcher-furniture pieces would result in that much more cardboard detritus everywhere. Not that I'd complain if I received one of those cool things as a gift.

I've been using the super-cheap Bastis cardboard scratching boxes from Ikea. My cats love the cardboard, but they honestly don't have a super long life. After the cardboard has had the horizontal connections scratched out, all the resistance is gone & the cat looses interest. Not sure if all cardboard scratchers would suffer the same fate.
I can't find them on the Ikea web site right now, but they are sold in sets of 3 for less than $10. Here is another site that includes pictures:

Gursk - that looks pretty much like mine, but I got the "double wide," which my cat really appreciates, since it's a central spot for her.

We too go through the cheapo flat scratchers in nothing flat. Who knew cats were so drawn to cardboard?
I like the shape of these, and the price is much better than the line Velocity carries:

The Lounge Bed is only 11" wide however - I fear my Rubenesque kids wouldn't feel properly supported...
